To Scale or Not To Scale

I posted my WLS Promises here a few weeks ago and one of my promises is not to weigh myself for the first two weeks post-op because of all the swelling and fluids and such which often make people "gain" weight after surgery.

Tomorrow will be the first day of week 2 and I really want to weigh myself!  Argh!  Should I do it?  I'm getting in all of my fluids with no issues, I'm walking, I feel like I'm in good shape.  I don't know if I'm hallucinating or not, but I feel like my body is changing and that there are places that are getting firmer.  But this might just be my imagination.

I'll be weighed whether I want to or not next Monday for my first post-op appointment (and I'll weigh myself at home before going, just so I'm not surprised...) so the question is - should I wait four more days to weigh myself for the first time to minimize the risk of disappointment?  Or should I just throw caution to the wind and do it tomorrow?

I weighed myself the morning of my Dr's appt and then got on the scale at the Center. I was able to have an idea if there was any difference between my scale and the Dr's. I am confident that you lost weight...

I'll definitely be weighing myself before the doctor's appointment regardless :D  I just don't know if I should do it tomorrow too!

It's really up to you.  If you feel that you'll be depressed and discouraged if the number on the scale isn't what you think it should be, don't weigh yourself everyday.

I can't help myself.  I have to weigh myself everyday, but I do not let a disappointing number ruin my day.  As long as you stay on program, the numbers will go down eventually.  I get extra motivated when I do see a decrease so I use it for even more inspiration.  I'd go INSANE if I only weighed myself once a week.  I'm a control freak like that

I think what's weirding me out right now is that I totally don't know how I'll be.  This is such new territory for me!  I think I'm going insane waiting to weigh, though, so this means I should just go ahead and do it.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you weigh yourself.

But if you're not, don't come after me because I'll be hiding

Well, you & I have both read numerous posts where people can get obsessed with the scale & the numbers displayed. As long as you keep in mind that its just one of MANY indicators of health, and don't Let the scale control you, why not get on it? Keep in mind, i, myself, used to weigh before & after pooping, just for curiosities sake. I have an OCD thing with numbers. You could be on the brink of insanity if you allow the scale to control you.  Good luck!!!!
