Popcorn
I've actually had that popcorn craving too, but I've steered clear of it, for now. I'm afraid it will lead to other snacking, and that's a big no-no for me right now. My dietician and I came up with the idea that popcorn is my gateway drug. LOL! I start out with just having a little, but then before you know it, it opens the door to snacks and not-healthy foods for me, and I can't risk it. However, that being said... everyone is different. :) If you can enjoy the popcorn like the other poster can, then it will be awesome for you! :) I was also worried about it getting stuck or something lol.
I had crazy cravings too around this time post-op. I just kept telling myself I would get some a few months out when my tummy was healed (I didn't want to invite any unnecessary problems). By the time the 3 months came....they then went without any more of those same cravings...even if they had been there I probably would have said...might as well wait another couple of months and get my 6 month visit in to my surgeon and ask him if I could eat a bit of popcorn. I have had a few bites of popcorn at about 7 months post-op but I never was a big popcorn eater either. It may be the salt you are craving or the butter or both or the crunch of it...we dont' get near the amount of salt that we used to pre-surgery. You might take a look at your sodium intake in a day and see where that is and see if your body is actually craving the salt and maybe you can plan to get a bit more in with some extra water. Just some thoughts that might be helpful in seeing the craving in a needs kind of way for your body.
I was thinking of trying popcorn soon! It doesn't seem to be that bad of a thing to crunch on. We'll see if anyone says differently! LOL
you are wise to resist this popcorn craving now. after awhile it will pass. this phase is no only about losing weight but about forming new habits. bet you crave that popcorn while watching tv or something. have to learn to watch tv or movies without snacking. might look for a crunchy salty substitute like cucumber chips with sea salt or seaweed crisps or kale crisps. gl. you can do this.
another thought - when you have a food craving ask yourself if a couple of ounces of poached chicken sounds good. if so, you are truly hungry and have some protein. if not, its head hunger and drink some water. diane
I think Chrissy W. cured me of any lingering longing for popcorn LOL
