Scheduling Pureeds?

As you all probably know by now, since I'm super ready for it, I start pureed foods tomorrow.  So far I've just been on full liquids and haven't had any sort of schedule for consumption.  I drink two shakes when I wake up (over a few hours) and then I drink a shake before I go to bed (over an hour) and I have soup, popsicles, and diluted CL in between depending on what my tastebuds are interested in at the time.

Should I start working toward something like a meal plan tomorrow?  I'm not going to eat more than 1 ounce of any pureed food and then I'll wait 30-60 minutes to drink.  Should I try to aim for 6 "meals?"  How does this work exactly?  I still plan to drink 2 shakes tomorrow.  Also, do I need to wait 30-60 minutes after taking meds to drink so that they've got time to hang out in my stomach?

I believe your meds are absorbed in your small intestine so don't worry too much about washing them out of your sleeve.   If you're taking a PPI, normally it's taken on an empty stomach.

Thanks!

I swear I always forget that the small intestine is where absorption happens.  Always.  I must have skipped anatomy in school.

I was taking Nexium prior to surgery and it definitely had "hour before food" plastered all over it, but the liquid Prilosec I'm taking now says nothing.  I can't wait to be back to Nexium.  I had a pretty good routine going of taking it the moment I woke up (or if I woke up in the early morning to go to the bathroom).  I miss pills :P

We were given a scheduled for our "meals" right from the day we got home with the sleeve.  Three of our shakes got swapped out for "meals".   I had to schedule a med around eating/drinking but, it required and empty stomach for coating the stomach to prevent ulcers of the staple line.  I was done with that at 2 weeks.  You should ask your pharmacist if you need to take any on a empty stomach as drugs are absorbed at different location.

Our schedule was; 3 meals 1-2oz pureed protein food 4-5 hours apart, 2-3 protein shakes daily between meals. So I scheduled ever 2-2.5 hours a protein shake or meal.

Now the one thing this NUT allowed that they didn't with the band,  she let us drink right up to and right after our shakes.  When I got the band I had to wait 30 before and after.  But it is still 30 min before and after meals.

I still have a protein shake/coffee most days.

This is SUPER helpful - thank you!  I swear I'm overthinking all of this right now and had this elaborate schedule typed up.  This makes it sound so much more simple.  :)

The scheduling and logistics of taking vitamins and prescriptions,  plus getting in protein and water after surgery drove me nuts. I also created a spreadsheet to keep everything clear in my mind.   After awhile it becomes second nature.

I'm a planner, so I feel you here.  I made up a spreadsheet last night, but I'm now torn about it.  I also set up my meds for the next four days in stacking pill containers.  I think they'll be really useful.

I use pill containers too.  I fill up a two week container with EVERYTHING (except the sublingual B12 because it tends to get sticky), then daily put them into a small tupperware container that I carry with me.

Yep I had a spread sheet too!  The above summed it up.  I understand over thinking!  I had to take a med that required no eating or drinking 2-3 hours before and after.  Talk about making it ruff.  For those two weeks, I  scheduled around the clock.  I was up walking 10 minutes every hour so was sipping to.  I was so thankful when those two weeks were over.
