New York City Restaurants!
In 1.5 weeks, I'm going to NYC for a few days to meet up with my BIL and his fiancee! I'm super excited, I haven't been there since I was a kid. This trip was planned long before surgery was a glimmer in my eye and, at that point, my partner and I planned on doing the foodie thing, having a fancy tasting menu at Le Bernardin, etc. This isn't so feasible now, since I'll be five weeks post-op and on small amounts of soft food.
If you're familiar with NYC, do you have recommendations of restaurants that might be fun? And make it so we don't feel so sad to be missing out on a Michelin 3-star? :P I figure I'll want to stick to fish while we're there.
I'll be staying here -- Midtown Manhattan/Fifth Avenue, 25 West 37th St -- in case location matters. I assume we'll be walking around a LOT, though :)

I'll be taking shakes and tuna packets so that I'm prepared with my own food. Just to be safe.

This place has great small plates -- really good food and reasonably priced (for a good restaurant in NYC)

And are you sure you can't do the foodie thing? If you are looking forward to seafood, I would definitely do Marea and just share as much food as you can. So worth it.
Some other options - really good food, including seafood, but not at Le Bernardin/Marea type level:
http://beautyandessex.com/food/dinner/ (great food but the crowd is a little young, flashy, loud, and hip for me to feel like I belong, YMMV)
http://www.txikitonyc.com/menus/dinner - Basque restaurant specializing in tapas, has lots of sleeve-friendly stuff on the menu.
Thank you so much!!
I think I can do the foodie thing, just not a tasting menu at this point since I think I'd feel too awkward. I'll look at all of your links! :D

Well if you are going to do the foodie thing, I definitely recommend Cafe Boulud and Per Se -- tbh I liked them both better than Le Bernardin. I liked Marea better than Le Bernardin too! Not that LB isn't amazing etc.
It looks like Per Se only does tasting menus, but Cafe Boulud looks viable. Thanks :)

Ethos, it's a Greek place that is excellent! There are a few in Manhattan. There is one on 3rd and 34th or 35th. If you google it I am sure you will get the right address. Great meat and sea food very VSG friendly. Also I love the 2nd Ave Deli. Also on 33rd ish and between 3rd and Lexington. Great great food. I love NYC. Best city in the world! Have fun!!!
Thanks! That looks like it would be a good, easy lunch place :D
