O.T. GYNO STUFF
I'm yearly for Paps because even thought I don't have my lady parts anymore (no cervix, etc) the cells are still there and my mom died of cervical cancer. So, that's every year for me.
Mammograms - I was told that I HAD to get on this last year because of the melanoma. I have no idea what the two have to do with each other, but I did. I have been told every year, but I have cancer in my family.
I was told this a few years ago. Current recommendations seem to be that if your paps have been fine, they're not needed as often. Which is cool by me!

Unless you have an extensive family history of breast cancer (I do, even the men in my family have it), or a genetic mutation (got that too, stupid BRCA2), there really isn't a huge point to getting a mammogram every year. It's just radiation you don't need. And if you are under 50, there REALLY isn't a huge point. You see, a mammogram isn't terribly effective on dense, pre menopausal breasts. For instance, at 39, I had a mammogram and an MRI. Neither picked up the 3 tumors I had in my breast. Those weren't found till the mastectomy. I have some strong opinions about Susan G Komen and "selling" breast cancer, but even so, you can't fight biology. A younger breast doesn't let the mammogram see what's inside.
