VSG/Bougie/Capacity: New Findings !!!!!

It turns out the sizing tool thing used for determining your sleeve capacity..... Doesn't even matter !!!!

The differences are minuscule, why eat 4oz. when you could be eating 16oz. !!!!!!!

Get the big one so you can eat more !!!!! More=Better !!!!!

And carbs and sugar????? Who knew, get yourself "balanced" 200grams carbs a day is deemed "low carb" go for 300 and be normal !!!!!

Now seriously:

The information is all here, look it up.

The average EWL percentage number for the VSG has been gradually going down......why, look it up it's here.

OH has a very broad sampling of VSG patients and after you've been here a while you see trends.

Is it trending in the wrong direction????? That's up to you to determine.

Can just about any VSG work? YES !!!

Are you doomed... NO !!!!

Will you have to commit and comply YES !!!!

I'm not asking you to believe me, just asking you to educate yourself and give this thing your best effort !!!!

I wish anyone who has any WLS to get out of it what they want !!!!

Claim it and own it !!!!!

Hmmm.  I thought you were a photographer, not a statistician.

I'm not sure what you're trying to communicate here.  That there's only one acceptable size for a bougie?

Nope, those would be your words.

i've/we've seen just about every size succeed and fail and lots fall in the middle.

My point would be to study up because there is a lot to be learned from past postings.

It dosent matter what me or anyone else says..... Your ultimately on your own.

Well, I'm just trying to clarify what you're trying to say.  It's not exactly decipherable.

Are there any particular studies you would care to cite, or are you relying on anecdotal evidence based on what you read on this one particular forum?  I'm not being snarky, I'm just trying to understand what you mean.

Your right strictly anecdotal from this site mainly. This site has a very large participation of patients across the country and not a case study by any means as it represents all programs.

Again, much to be desiphered in the back posts.

And not asking anyone to agree.

I'm always interested in seeing facts on all the different surgeries, it helps we long term vets give people advice, so do you have the studies to confirm these beliefs (assuming these are your beliefs?)

Either way, science is king so peer reviewed studies please ...

Most recent research demonstrates that metabolic and endocrine changes are responsible for successful surgical weight loss, not sleeve size in VSG or pouch size in RNY. If rwstriction alone were most important, the band would be much more successful.

Until sleeve or pouch size becomes extraordinarily large, found in less than 7% of post-ops, size has no correlation to success. Size really doesn't matter.

What does matter is when people demean others for the specifics of their surgeries. There is no need to start a post for the express purpose of belittling others. It is simply small minded and cruel. Besides having no science to support it.

That's fair, I can respect that. I've read other things but lets break it down.

Who is going to have it harder. The person that can eat more or the person who can eat less? When 100 calories over your balance point per day can equate to a 10lbs. gain in a year.

Not to discount your point, but most of us tend to bring it right to the edge.
