Why do you insist that the amount you can eat in one sitting is the critical element? You can have the smallest sleeve in the world and gain weight by drinking too many calories, or eating too often. It's a lot more complex than you make it out to be.

And once again, those with small sleeves fair no better, statistically, than those with larger sleeves -- the ones you seem intent on ridiculing. It isn't harder. It just isn't.

What do you tell the gal with a 6 ounce pouch that sips wine half the day, and 600 calorie Starbucks crapuchinos the other half? And salads with thousand calorie dressing, because salads are healthy?

Continue ignoring the scientific evidence that sleeve size isn't important. Continue running down other people's surgeries.

From a point in time standpoint I understand where you're going- but that's not reality.  So let's say I can only eat 3oz at a time.  Then I do that every 90 minutes.  Still doesn't help anyone.

This whole post strikes me as seeking yet another silver bullet solution.  There aren't any.  It doesn't matter what size your new stomach is if you don't manage it properly.

Hole in one!

Op, There are lots of ways to be sucessful, and having the smallest sleeve or pouch does not guarantee regain won't happrn. Then too, sucess can be measured in ways aside from a weight or clothing size, too.

Grim, thanks for posting that link.  It confirms that bougie size is really not a factor in EWL success.  I wish that some people would read it, comprehend it and stop propagating myths and their "feelings" as pertinent information and support.

Just because something worked for YOU doesn't make it statistically significant.  Other factors, like SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, are more useful for the population as a whole.

Scientific literacy is SUPER important, it's frustrated to see so many people think that their personal experience trumps expert research. (And THAT is how we get measles outbreaks, children!)

Come back with a sample size larger than 30, appropriately selected and consistently measured, and then we'll talk.

"Most recent research demonstrates that metabolic and endocrine changes are responsible for successful surgical weight loss, "

What he said. I was the best damn dieter EVER (compliant, no cheating) and I couldnt drop more than 10 lbs due to my PCOS.

I had surgery, remain compliant (just as I was compliant to other diet plans some of which were medically supervised) and am losing like a rock star. My  surgeon thinks I am ahead of schedule.

I used to be hungry all time the time. To the point it was painful. Now I do not have that constant hunger.  The only things that changed were stomach size, intestinal routing and hormones. I exercised then and I exercise now. I was complaint then and I am complaint now.

Research research research. The VSG is not standardized. Bougie and surgeon technique matters a lot. Just be careful. I knew going in I wanted a small one and made sure I got it. If you want a big one, go for it! Make it work for ya.
