Since surgery,  I haven't been able to drink plain water because it hurt going down and made me nauseous.  Well this week I've noticed that it doesn't hurt anymore and I'm loving it!  I was getting tired of crystal light.  I'll be 4 months post op tomorrow.

I AM SO JEALOUS! I haven't been able to tolerate plain water from TEN MONTHS now :(

I saw my surgeon the other day and he agreed with the research I've been doing that suggests that it is likely a pH issue that causes the water intolerance... I find that electrolyte "Smart" waters don't bother me as badly as others... Also, if I squeeze a bit of lime into my water, I'm good to go. It's irritating, but better than nothing. I miss being able to not have to PLAN my water!!

Glad you're doing well!

I remember how great it was when I could drink plain old water again.  I don't like sweat drinks and the had taken away my tea and the water would go down with out something in it.  I don't remember when it was but 4-6 months has to be about right.

I was probably about 4 months out when I could tolerate it again. It was a great feeling. I still prefer it icy cold, but really, that's how I prefer it anyway.

Oh, and I agree, I was doing Mio squirts instead of Cystal Light and those things are tiresome! I will still have it every so often, but I never drank the stuff pre-op and I'm glad that I don't have to depend on it to stay hydrated.
