Copper levels high

I got a call from my doc today about the recent lab work I had and everything is great (I'll be picking up the results to confirm) except my copper which is apparently high at 220.  The only added copper I'm getting is from my multivitamin which gives me 2mg/day.  From what I can tell .9mg is the RDA and the upper limit is 10mg/day.

Have any of you experienced high copper levels?  Do you have any advice about what I should be looking into?  I'll follow up with my doc as soon as I'm able to.

I didn't even know copper was something that would be added to a diet.  I'm interested in knowing what your doc has to say.

Fascinating! Copper is one of the few minerals that is actually absorbed by the stomach itself. It is awesome that your doc tests copper levels. Mine does, too, if there is even a slight abnormality in iron levels (copper aids in iron absorption). That's how my copper deficiency was found. My deficiency is very slight, but enough that I now take 4 mg of copper daily.

Check with your doc about taking a mega dose of vitamin C. C, while it helps iron absorption, interferes with copper absorption. My doc would like me to keep my C down to what's in my multi vitamins. Being a bit of a vitamin nut job, that has been hard for me to do.

I'll be seeing my PCP about this next week and I've got an eye doc appointment to rule out Wilsons Disease the following week.  I bet that my copper has never been tested before, so who knows if it has always been high!
