Fluids-Timing with VSG
Great info, thanks for sharing. My plan also talks about not having soup after moving to regular foods. Although, the nut mentioned having soups but not the liquid. Lots of posts have mentioned soup, in the regular food stage, so I am wondering how people are doing that successfully. I was contemplating that you could probably have the liquid from the soup and then any meat and veg, equivalent to drinking up to the first bite of food. Thought, Frisco?
Hi!
Just a quick question to everybody that is a couple of years out, maybe a little off topic but.. When you eat out, do you still wait as long to have a drink?
Thank you! :)
It's all about waiting till food clears your pyloric valve..... for most people around an hour.
You can read up on the basics of the pyloric valve function here.

I function much the same way at 1 year out. I will drink right up until it's time to eat (or within a few minutes of a meal) but I absolutely wait at least an hour to start drinking again. It's such a habit for me now that if I try and drink sooner I get really uncomfortable.
And for the OP who asked about soups, even now I find that I can't do very much soup or chili. Anything that combines liquids and solids together like that is very difficult for me eat and I can only get a few spoonfuls down before I've got that more-than-full feeling.
I was wondering about this ... I was thinking that the goal was not to wash food 'out' so I usually drink up to the moment that I eat (give/take 5 minutes) since not drinking with my meal has been a tough adjustment for me. Thanks for these thoughts ... I will go back and check my doc's info also.

I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord, I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones.
