Three Months!
It’s my 3-month surgiversary - well, tomorrow is, but I'll be out of town, so I'll post a yay post today! So many things have happened in the last three months and I’d like to offer a brief recap. First, I’ll list my big milestones. The dates of accomplishments that I’m proud of.
- 3/13 – Surgery! I also started walking - first in the hospital, then outside on my street.
- 3/20 – reached first goal of “extremely obese BMI”
- 3/24 – Started walking at the gym on the treadmill (I now do this x3 each week.)
- 4/15 – went to NYC for 2 nights! Walked a lot and felt amazing.
- 4/23 – finally made it to an hour on the treadmill!
- 4/27 – shaved my head for St. Baldricks and raised $1500 for the charity.
- 4/28 – started physical therapy for back pain (which turned out to be a kidney stone)
- 4/29 – reached second goal of 50 pounds lost/25% EWL
- 5/8 – started fitness classes (I now do yoga x2, pilates x3, and tai chi x1 every week.)
- 5/17 – achieved my third goal of drivers license weight!
- 6/3 – went to ER for severe pain and vomiting, passed kidney stone
- 6/11 – started running on the treadmill – woo!
I think that’s most of the milestones. I am so much more active now than I was pre-op. I do 9 hours of formal exercise a week, but I also just move more in my day-to-day life. I don’t find excuses not to get off the couch. I don’t try to conserve trips. I love it. I sleep infinitely better too. I go to bed at a regular time; I wake up in the morning and feel revitalized. I’ve battled insomnia my whole life, so this is sort of a big deal.
Now for the numbers!
- Bust 49.5 to 46.5
- Waist 50 to 44
- Hips 59.5 to 54.5
- T-shirts tight XXL to baggy XL
- Jeans tight 28 to baggy 26
- Weight (actual) 292.4 to 253.1
- Weight (trend) 295.5 to 256.6
- Fat % (trend) 54.5 to 48.6
- Fat Mass (trend) 161 to 124.7
- Lean Mass (trend) 134.5 to 131.9
All of these numbers are so thrilling to me. I think the one that I’m happiest about, strangely, is that lean mass number. I’ve lost almost 70 pounds, but my lean mass has barely moved. I think that means I’m doing something right. :D
Thanks to all of you reading this – I’d be lost without these forums and I’m so grateful for everyone’s comments and posts.

Thank you! The exercise has been really great for me, I think it helps a lot with my energy levels, which is always counter-intuitive to me.

Thank you so much! I'm sure I won't reach my goal as fast as others, but I know I'll get there eventually.
