Paid my first race fees - who is this person whose life I'm living?
My partner ran a 10-miler in Baltimore yesterday and, last night, we were talking about his next Baltimore race which is the marathon in October. He suggested that I sign up for the half marathon which has a limit of 5 hours - very walkable for me right now. That got us talking more and, by the end of the conversation, I had decided that I was going to sign up for the 5k. I'll get a t-shirt! And a medal! And a banana!!
So this morning, when I woke up, I signed up. I have officially paid my first race fees. I've got 16 weeks to train and c25k is 8 weeks, which will give me plenty of time to add weeks and repeat weeks as necessary. The time limit for the race is an hour, and even today I should have no issue walking a 5k in an hour.
I posted about it on FB, and my best friend (who is a hardcore runner) said that she would sign up for it to and run at my pace to cheer me on.
I feel so loved and supported. And really freaking proud of myself. :D

So cool! I'm afraid to sign up! Yesterday I walked/ran a 5k in 42:30 minutes! My first 2 miles were around 13:30! But I'm afraid to do an actual race! silly, I know but you've made a great leap forward!
The fact that I'll be there anyway (to cheer R on for his marathon) made it easier to get over my fear - but I totally understand. It's scary to sign up and commit!

Thanks! I'm happy to have a date in my calendar and have committed monetarily. That means I can't back out now! (Unless I injure myself.. but I won't.)

Cool! There were 4000-5000 people, so it seemed like a nice event. Although hot, humid, and hilly. Running in October should be better. I don't know how anyone races in the area in the summer :P
