Missing mexican carbs - substitute suggestions?
So I knew work was providing lunch today - didn't pay much attention to the announcement - turned out to be Mexican!
I passed on the donuts, cookies, trail mix, and chocolates.
The main meal was Qudoba (like chipolte)
I got a bowl - skipped the shell and rice. Had steak, cheese sauce, beans, hot salsa, pico, salsa verde, s.cream, guac, cheese, and chips. Ate most of the steak (3-4 oz). I felt bad throwing away most of my beans and condiments. I'm sure there some extra calories from oil and fat that I don't have in my homemade version, but it tasted sooooo good. I worked in about 4 chips (broke them up and added a part to my bite for a little crunch) and it totally hit the spot. Had no issue throwing the rest of them away (other than wasting food and wondering why I still reached for a big handful). As long as I have this much will power and self control, I might try getting some tortila chips - 3 or 4 chips is a lot less calories/carbs/volume than the other bread or cheese shells we have mentioned. If that old urge - you know the one where the 1/2 eaten bag calls your name to fini**** off (if I didn't eat them all the first time) then I'll have to go back to plan "b".
I had to laugh as those before me got one scoop of meat, one scoop of cheese, one scoop of beans... Don't know if it's because I passed on the rice and my bowl looked empty or if it was because I'm still 2x the size of everyone else in line but I got a scoop plus a little extra meat, a scoop plus a second scoop of cheese, a scoop of beans and..back to the container for a little more. Mind you I didn't ask for any extra or a large scoop, nor did I tell the server to stop when I saw him dipping back in for extra.
