You know MsWatts, that was well said! I have felt big and sluggish for most of my adult life. It gets harder to lose as I get older and it is wayyy time to do something about it. Can't wait to get on that bench with you all.

I love that mswatts said she's just 'informing them of her decision not asking for their approval'.  I don't know of any other serious health issue where people feel they can tell you that what you and your doctor decided to do is wrong or not needed.  Aaargh.  I'm so tired of trying to please people and have their approval.  I haven't had surgery yet but don't think I'll share with my coworkers unless it's someone who might really benefit from wls themselves. but, i'm weak and emotional and thin-skinned.  Aaargh -- putting it on the 'when I get a therapist list'.

Oh man, that has not been my experience at all. As a woman, I've gotten judgment from people for so many of my choices regarding my body and health - no kids? I'm a horrible person.  Tubal ligation? Birth control pills?  Emergency contraception?  I must be a **** Abortion? I haven't had one, but it would be the same response. People always judge the choices we make for our bodies and it's even worse when you're female :/

People are dumbasses. A person might be smart but get a group together and it devolves into stupid. LOL

I just said I'm not having the surgery to lose weight, I'm having to keep it off. I've lose weight many times before without surgery but I never kept it off and surgery can help with that.

Interestingly enough, no one told me I wasn't big enough for surgery. I think that's because I life California and people are more body conscious here. But if they did, I would just say "my doctor and the insurance company don't agree." So something along those lines.

I LOVE all the analogies above (especially the one about "dumbasses" heheheh). I need to come back with the comment "...I'm having it to KEEP it off", explains it just how I feel.
