Question about protein/amino acids
During my 1st nutrition class, the NUT told us that protein is made of amino acids that get absorbed in the small intestine. And that we should eat 20-30g of protein per meal for best absorption. Does this mean that if i drink the protein shakes and waters that have more than 30g protein per serving, that any protein amount over the 30g will not be absorbed and just get wasted?

Some people make that claim, but I have yet to find any scientific research to support it.

That's the common story that we've all been told -- "you can't absorb more than 30 grams at a time so don't overload in any one meal". But no one has been able to find any empirical studies that support that claim.
To my way of thinking, it just makes sense to space my protein as evenly as I can throughout the day so my body is getting a steady stream of the nutrients it needs. But I certainly don't stress out or consider it a "waste" if I happen to take in more than 30 grams in one sitting.
