Insurance problems...

Called my surgeon's office to ask if they had my bloodwork results. The nurse said yes and that they were going to look everything over and submit to the insurance company.

Got a call this afternoon and the nurse told me that although I have met my deductible, the insurance company will pay all but $1500. AND that I may need a sleep study or get them the paperwork from the sleep study showing the settings on my cpap.

I am royally pissed! I called the insurance company a couple weeks ago and they told me everything would be paid at 100%. And I have used the cpap for 8 years. The cpap I use has no pressure settings, it automatically regulates its settings and air pressure depending on what I need.

Called the insurance company today and was again told that eveything will be paid at 100%. Called the surgeon back and tried to verify my insurance card info and give her the phone number off the card. She said she hadn't called, that she found out about me owing $1500 from the Blue Cross/MESSA website. I asked her to call them Monday!

Now I have to go hunt around and try to get my hands on my sleep study paperwork. I feel like my surgery is never going to happen 

Early on in my journey, the Dr said that I may need a sleep study depending on what the surgeon wants.  When I asked him, he simply said why?  You already had one done and you wear a CPap, what else do we need to do or need to know.......  

Jobe, those are my feelings exactly! I am on the cpap, that should be all they need to know. Hopefully they will figure out I don't need one. In the meantime I guess I will go to Airway Oxygen tomorrow and see if they have a copy of my paperwork, machine info and sleep study info.

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield MESSA and it covered everything 100% after I met my deductible.  I did not need a sleep study but they covered all the blood work, the EDG, and the EKG.  Good luck in getting everything squared away.  I know it can be frustrating!

I am so sorry you are having issues. I totally feel your pain. I fought and argued with surgeons offices, pcp offices and insurance for about two months. I was so bogged down towards the end I felt like giving up. But I got pushy and started bugging them every day and then boom I was being told that I would be having surgery in two days. Just keep at it, it'll all fall into place. 

the 1500 could be the surgeons program fee that some like to tack on. Insurance usually won't pay program fees. I would ask the surgeons office outright of it is a program fee.

I'm sorry, this is really frustrating!  

Can I ask what insurance this is?
