Confessions of the Fat me.......
I was thinking about a few things in a store while traveling last week.......
I'm sure you all may have similar stories....
I remember:
- Buying a cake and having "Happy Birthday - - - - - - " put on it so it didn't look like it was for personal consumption.
- Having candy/chocolate gift wrapped.
- Asking for forks and knifes for 4 people at take out places.
- Having pastries bagged separately.
I also realized that the fear of eating in public/social situations is completely gone, in fact I think I want people to see me eat and my portions and whats on my plate.
What are yours ????

I can relate somewhat, except for the cake. Too much steak, tators, fried chicken and coke got me like this. Here are my confessions...
1. Hitting the drive thru on the way home from work when knowing dinner was going to be skimpy.
2. Ordering 2 drinks in the drive thru when alone.
3. The forks, same as you
4. Thinking the food I was eating was healthy because I prayed over it

HAHAHAHA I love that!
1. Acting like I was going to a party at the cupcake shop.
2. Making comments like...what was it she wanted again, oh yeah...when ordering snacks at the movie theater by myself.
3. Just flat out taking orders togo from restaurants so no one will watch me eat.
4. Taking two spoons at the yogurt shop with a full container of topping covered yogurt.
Oh my! Frisco, you certainly were (are) creative!! I guess I was naive enough to think that the vendors/restaurants would automatically 'know' massive food purchases were for a, ahem, group of people, and not just for me. wow, I wasn't fooling anyone...except myself. sigh.
great post/conversation starter!

I was less of a sweets person. I got right down to the REAL FOOD. I definitely did the multiple fork/plate thing. I would also go to multiple drive- thrus to get all of my fast food needs met. I always carried a big pocketbook so I could hide the evidence when I walked from my car and through my front door.
Oh, Frisco - your post brought up sooooo many not-so-great memories of the tricks I played to make people thing that "all that food" wasn't just for me. I pretty much did everything you have on here, plus going through the drive through and asking for a 2nd meal to be put in a separate bag, pretending there were other people in the house when people were delivering food.
I was such a sneaky, sneaky eater.
Ordering hamburgers to go with different condiments\ toppings so it would appear to before 2 people.
a lot of times i would eat small amount of food in front of people, have rest of food boxed up and scarf down when i got home
going to Taco Bell and not ordering any drink, just lots of food so they would not know all was for me would also get several different hot sauces
Ooooh I forgot one....
When getting drive thru for the family, I would eat fries on the way home, then stop and scramble to shift the fries around in containers to make it look like we all got jipped.

Yup, done most of those things.
I remember once at a bakery, I had picked out a couple pastry type things for myself but wanted to buy more without looking like a pig. So I told the bakery worker, "I want to get a couple things for my partner. She loves chocolate but I don't really care for it -- what do you think she would like?" So I invented an entire person (I didn't have a partner!) as well as an aversion to chocolate in order to buy more without drawing attention to myself.
Also sometimes in super markets I would buy some "healthy" stuff just so that my fellow shoppers and the grocery clerks/baggers wouldn't see a cart that was 100% cookies, crackers, bread, frozen pizza, etc. I felt like they couldn't silently judge me quite as harshly if I also had some broccoli, orange juice, and oatmeal in there.
