Ready to spring this joint!
Just an update. Surgery went well, although now it seems I have contracted a cough, had an itchy throat when I got to the hospital yesterday. Want to nip this in the bud now!
I was out of it for a while with AWFUL gas. The nurse gave me something for it and i took 2 long walks and started feeling much better. I was on morphine for about six hours and then I didn't really think about pressing the pain meds pump. Incisions are a little tender today, but bearable. Had about 4 popcicles and ice chips up until midnight. When my ice chips melted, I drank the water. Called the nurse to ask for water and she said I couldn't have any, so I mentioned I had already drank some and she said not to drink any more - oops! Probably in case I have a leak?
Have the leak test in a couple hours and if that goes OK, hopefully I can get more to drink. The vampire lady just came in before sunrise to get blood LOL. She was very nice though...So far all's well. Hoping to get discharged later this afternoon, however, my sister (who got approved for her surgery day before yesterday) is my driver, but she doesnt get off wor****il sixish, but the nurse has assured me they won't kick me out until she gets here! Oh to be home!
PS... No hunger so far, YAY!

Thanks Kelly Jean. The gas has shifted and is back, so I definitely have been walking to work it out.

I met with my surgeon Monday and I am just waiting for the scheduling nurse to call me with a date. Surgery should be in the next week or two. I am getting a little antsy so reading here about your experience Dawn helps calm me. I have heard wonderful stories about people feeling great and others that have had a few bumps in the road. My niece had the By-Pass two years ago and has lost over 150 pounds. I wish you the best of luck Dawn and can't wait to share this journey with you!!!
Hi Magnolia. I have to honestly say that overall the experience has been OK. Gas is back, maybe it has just shifted. The gas is more uncomfortable than the incisions but both are manageable.
I wish you much success and can't wait to hear your story.
