I have been taking my prilosec twice daily since I got home, I have had random bouts of nausea in the past, probably from stomach acid. Have been doing pretty good since taking the prilosec.

Well this morning I wake up and make a protein/yogurt shake and when i fini**** I get extremely nauseated and gurgly, even more gurgly than usual. Then I remember I hadn't taken my prilosec. Took it and the feeling is gone within 5 minutes. I won't be forgetting that anymore!

Will we be on these meds forever now? Or does the acid and gurgliness go away as time passes?

I was told I year.  After reading research posted here a couple years ago I cut back to 1 after 6 months and stopped after the year.  I would like to warn you, when you stop it gets worse before it gets better.  Many people get worse reflux when they stop so go back to taken them when the just need to get thru it, 3/4 weeks, and than are good to go.  The center doesn't tell/know this and just tell people to double back up or change kinds.

Great information pineview01 I was planning to stop at 6 months, this is what my surgeon's office told me. I will keep the 3/4 weeks in mind.

Thanks for this. I am going to stay on it for a while, but if at all possible, I would like to stop taking all meds. I took myself off my bp meds because I was dizzy and my bp without them has been around 110/70. I am hoping to get off the zocor next and then hopefully the ppi soon therafter.

I never had to take Prilosec. before surgery. My doc said to take one daily for 4 months to prevent stomach ulcers.  I still get nauseated, and tummy gurgling even on it.
