Let's Be Friends - Introduce yourself!
Name: Gail
Age: 43
Location: North of Los Angeles, California
Height: 5' 3"
Starting Weight: 306
Goal Weight: 160
Where I am in the Surgery Process: 14.5 months post-surgery
Best thing about weight loss: being able to move, to breathe, to shop anywhere I want.
Worst thing about weight loss: Looking like I'm melting when I lie down from leftover skin.
Favorite Type of Exercise: Treadmill and weight training
Current Goal: 35 more pounds.
Other Information: When I began this process, I said I'd be ecstatic to get down to a size 12. Well, I'm there, and I've decided I'm not done yet. :-)
Hi there all!
Name: Julia
Age : 50 (yikes!)
Location: Geneva, Switzerland
Height: 5 ft 0
Starting Weight: 222, on surgery day it was 209
Goal Weight: 120
Where I am in the Surgery Process: I am 2 years and two months post op and am currently at my goal weight.
Best thing about weight loss: that it happened! Off all meds, diabetes in remission, feel normal, back to the me I remember, new wardrobe, plastic surgery, a new lease on life, still loving food, cooking etc and being able to enjoy it so much! The list of bests is unending.
Worst thing about weight loss: can't think of anything. I am one of the weird ones who had no complications, no hair loss, no nausea, didn't vomit even once, never had foamies, no constipation or the reverse, no reflux, really nothing at all. Well, one thing I guess - wish I had done this sooner.
Favorite Type of Exercise: err...what? Yeah sadly I am delinquent in this domain but if I must pick, weights and the eliptical.
Current Goal: that things stay this way forever, and to get my eyelids done.
Other Information: my tag alongs are my husband of 21 years, three kids (two have moved on to university) and two absolutely amazing dogs. I work at the United Nations and I love Shonda Rhimes shows, cheese and everything made with cheese, travel, good books, restaurants, Port wine, and black chocolate.
Well, I can't tell you first hand because I have never had them myself. But from what I read it is absolutely disgusting. It's literally like you are foaming at the mouth, saliva, slime, foam etc. all comes up but you are not throwing up although for some people this can also happen. People say it can be caused by eating too fast or too much or not chewing enough which causes excessive production of digestive juices to get rid of whatever it is that is in your stomach/sleeve and since there isn't much room in there it comes back up and so on... from having read about it for the last few years I am absolutely delighted that I have been spared that joyous experience.
Edited to add: I think it is excess production of saliva actually not digestive juices. Saliva is produced to help things go down and start on the digestive process.
You can use the little magnifying glass on the right hand top part of your screen to search posts on the foamies. There are plenty... pretty gross.
This is a fabulous idea; I am loving reading about all of you...so, here is mine!
