Can you vomit?

I'm pretty constipated and have had some  bad stomach cramps the past few days.  Working on senna and colace, increased my fluids because I've been low on those.

I had the weirdest thing happen this morning. Woke up out of a dream at 4am thing to catch my breath because I was dry heaving in my sleep. I got up but wasn't able to puke,  only saliva came out.

Has anyone experienced this before? I'm not too worried. Other than cramps,  I'm good this morning. I have today off so going to focus on clearing out and fluids.

I am not a doc but that could have been a very dangerous issue.

I would give your PC a call and see if he/she thinks you need to be seen.  The other thing, do everything you can to get more water in!  This might be a strong signal for dehydration.  Third thing, possibility of a hiatal hernia?  I know those will come up during sleep and make one vomit but if your tummy was empty, you would have dry heaves instead.  How are you feeling otherwise?

Seriously, I think you should call the doc.  Better safe than sorry.

I'm fine,  really. I appreciate the concern. I'll bring it up to the surgeon the next time I have an appointment. I know with other wls  some people don't vomit. I didn't know if anyone with VSG had experienced it before. Or it could have just been the dry heaves.

My vital signs are stable,  no temp,  positive bowel sounds,  bowls are moving now,  taking in 100oz water,  good appetite. If anything worsens or  changes I'll give a call.

You probably had some acid come up while you were sleeping. It's happened to me several times. I haven't had it happen since I had my reflux medicine upped. Thankfully.

I personally can not throw up after the sleeve, if I have to only saliva comes up.

Good luck and I hope you get relief from your constipation soon. I know how awful that is.

I have thrown up multiple times after the sleeve and up till now. It varies and sometimes its just spontaneous. Hopefully your not silently aspirating on something when you sleep. I would consider this a time to call your doc office.
