More about hair
I had my gallbladder removed 2 months after my VSG. I don't know if it made the hair loss any worse. I lost hair from about 6 months post op to 9 months post op. Now I'm almost 14 months out and my hair is definitely thickening up again. I remember how distressing it was when my hair was falling out, so I understand what you're going through. Have faith that this is temporary and your hair will come back!
No it definitely won't do anything to stop or ameliorate the thinning, and there isn't any medical evidence that it does anything to even help with regrowth if your levels are already normal. If you are biotin deficient that is one thing, but apparently biotin deficiency is rare, so it may or may not do anything at all.
It didn't seem to do anything for me except cause some excess facial hair growth. Unfortunately, I listened to the people who said it would definitely help with regrowth, so when it wasn't helping, I increased the dose. Then I increased it again... Until I noticed the fine fuzzy hairs growing on my lower cheeks and above my upper lip!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Many have reported that Biotin encourages bonus hair growth in areas they didn't wish for....like their face! Be careful with that stuff, and rest easy knowing that the hair will return. For now, I recommend a makeover with some cute layers to blend in that new growth so you don't look like a chia pet.
