Drinking alcohol post-op
I started adding a small glass of wine on special occasions at about 5 months post op. I had no problems with it. But I didn't drink often because I would rather lose weight than drink. Now I'm in maintenance, and I'll have a little alcohol maybe once or twice a week, and it seems to be ok. I do worry about transfer addiction, so I monitor it closely.
best wishes,
Carol

Rapid weight loss is terribly strenous on the liver. To add alcohol to the strain can cause permanent damage to the liver - the last thing you want so early in life, right? The recommendation is to wait until your weight loss stops, 12-14 mos before you imbibe again. By then you'll be of legal age, so no judgement necessary.
For the other side of your social interactions, when they pass around the pizza - just pull off the cheese and toppings and leave the bread/crust on the plate...or ask for chicken wings instead - awesome protein!

I'm 10 months out and tried alcohol for the first time last week. Let me tell you, your body will definitely react differently. A few sips of a margarita with good tequila and the room was spinning. That never happened before surgery. I've come to the conclusion that alcohol is just not something I can indulge in anymore.
