Yes, if you look at the header on my post, it gives my surgery type (RNY is the proper name for gastric bypass) and the date I had surgery.

I didn't discuss my intention to get surgery with family or friends, because I don't encourage advice unless I ask for it - too many ignorant "experts" out there. I'm very strict about boundaries and they all know it.

I was a lightweight with only 100lbs to lose and did fantastically- better still, I'm still alive after 15+ years from the horrendously dangerous surgery people are warning you about (sarcasm).

Do your research, voice your concerns with people who have a clue and decide what is best for you.

Kudos to your surgeon for NOT giving you the contra indicated (for you) VSG. Choosing him/her is already one great decision you have made!!

Thank you for your support. Did you have the bypass? Any complications?

you are "big"enough of you think you are big enough and your stats certainly support it.

They are used to seeing you this way and they don't want you to

change cause change may be hard for them .

Do what you need to do for your health and happiness. WLS was the best decision I ever made for myself.

I just quit discussing it with people, got the surgery, and told them about it after I got home from the hospital.

There is a risk of complications, so you do need to be aware of what could happen. Most people only regret not doing it sooner.

Congrats! I'm jealous as hell. I'm trying to get off BP med as well. I cut the dosage in half (from 10mg to 5mg) and I'm still at 120/78. Which, is good but because of the medicine. Congrats again!

Well I have a big health win to report. I had been struggling with elevated blood pressure for a while. I have always been hesitant about starting medication. With the weight gain and not being mindful of what I already knew what I was ingesting were key factors. Lifestyle modifications needed to happen. Anyway for those that have been following my updates you I've got back on track and made some changes. I can say for a month now my systolic numbers went from 140's to low 100's and my diastolic numbers 90's to low 60's. This morning my BP is 106/62. I am so pumped. Can't wait for my yearly exam next month to see my lab results for lipid panel and A1C.
