When did you stop loosing??
Hello Grads
I have 2 questions for you all. I was down 200 lbs. on my one year anniversary. That was in january and I have only lost 1 lb. since then. I'm only 12 lbs. from goal but wondering if I'll ever get there. I'm proud of my weight loss and for maintaing but I'm just curious if there are others that have stopped loosing at a year out?
~How much did you loose your first year ?
~When did your weight loss stop?
Thanks in Advance!!!!!!!!!!

I went from 341 to 180 in about 15 months. Then I didn't lose anything for 10 months. Then I dropped down to 172( which is where I've been at for about the last month) I'm like you, I've still got 12 more pounds. I think I can still lose it but I have to track my calories every day and that seems to be what's helping me. You've done so awesome in one year! 200lbs is amazing. I'm purely convinced that the last 10lbs seem to be the hardest to lose. Anyways, congrats on your success thus far.

I lost all but 25# by 13 months, Had my TT and then dropped that 25# fast. It wasn't all skin, just couldn't eat again! LOL
So, 14 months, then it took another 6 or so to stabilize.
Iv'e seen ppl keep dribbling wt off for as much as 4 years, tho!

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
Hi Kay. I lost most of my weight in 18 months. Now I've been struggling losing and gaining the same pounds. It's because I've been grazing and eating too much. As of yesterday, I took control of my eating.
So I don't know about not losing anymore. I'm hoping to lose a bit more weight and then stabilize.

Hi, Congratulations on your fantastic weight loss in one year. As for myself, I am slow......ly losing more weight. I was never given a goal but I am about 13-14lbs from my personal goal and hoping to reach it over the next 6 months. I feel everyone's rate of weight loss varys and some meet their goal in one year or take a lot longer. The last pounds to come off are going to be the hardest, but if we truely keep to the original plan of eating and exercise those goal are attainable.
Best of luck
Sher

I got down to about 170ish by 12 months then very, very slowly lost down to 158 from months 13 to about months 22. Now at two years out, I hover at about 165. Never made it ti goal which was 135. Maybe after plastics......
Jesus is so good to me; I couldn't ask for a better friend, protector, leader, savior!
I lost half of myself in the first year going from 328lbs to 164lbs~a weightloss of 164lbs. Things REALLY slowed down at a year for me and I can remember getting to 160lbs and staying there for quite awhile, but I stuck with the program and got down to my ultimate goal of 150 over the course of about 4-5mths. Now I allow myself to bounce around in the 150's (hoping to stay closer to the lower end). So I lost another 14lbs after my 1yr anniversary, it just took a little longer. Hang in there and keep doing all the good things you're doing~you'll make it to your goal!!!!!!! Congratulations on all of your success!!!!!!!!!

The question and responses intrigue me. It is encouraging to see so many experiences. I lost 80 pounds in the first ten months. I haven't moved much in month 11-15, but I lost another inch around my waist in the same time period.
When you talk pounds, it is distorted by how much excess weight people have. I needed to lose 100 pounds and I lost 80% of my excess weight. The weight loss is well within the standards of sucess for WLS surgery. For me, I am a high achiever and want 100% success! HAHAHA
I am enocuraged that so many people continued to lose long after the first year. Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations on your excellent results. It is not unusual to slow down on weight loss, happens all the time.
I tell all of my patients that are as far out of surgery as you, that the lighter we get, the harder it is to lose weight. Your body recognizes weight loss as a bad thing, You must ofrce it to loose weight. The surgery was the number one tool to send it in the direction of weight loss.
Here is where you must look at your nutrition schedule and your exercise routine. You may need to tweak your current diet. An example would be to increase your protein intake, increase the number of meals you consume, while reducing the size. Another example is to make sure your are consuming 64 ounces of fluid a day to keep yourself hydrated. The other thing people do no think about is their exercise routine. They think that if they are exercising (in a routine) they should still be losing wieght.
The lighter you get, the harder you must exercise to lose weight. The science now a days is that a person must perform 7-8 hours of aerobic exercise a week to lose one pound of weight. How that exercise is accomplished is up to the person and their physical condition. Before you start an exercise program like the one mentioned, always check with your doctor. Consider hiring a personal trainer for a 3-6 month period of time to help you get to your goal.
Always consider talking or communicating with your bariatric surgeon.
Again, congratulations on your success!
