While I find it perfectly sensible and necessary to be accountable to others as well as yourself, if you find yourself obsessing over it, you may need to scale it back a bit. If your carbs are coming from fresh fruits, veggies, and/or whole grains, don't worry about it. I, too, can eat over a cup of certain foods, but I doubt many of us could eat 4oz of DENSE protein (steak, chicken/turkey breast, pork loin, etc.) and 1/2c. of much else! I've had to ease up on many deli and canned meats for that reason alone...the meats I make myself go much further in keeping me fuller, longer than the others. My NUT says good carbs are necessary, and suggests 2 or 3 tablespoons of whole grains a couple times a day. I snack at night too, but often it's out of boredom, especially if I'm watching TV, so I try not to keep too many good "snack foods" on hand to begin with. As far as the pouch test, I think you've got a great handle as it is, you're just a bit anxious at the moment...keep up the good work and give yourself a break!

Hi! I am 2 years post op and have lost 145 lbs and am at goal. My life is transformed from this surgery and I am so happy. I often snack too, but usually on fruit or something low sugar, low carb, high protein - I save about 200 calories for the evening so I can satisfy a craving for something "sweet" - a low fat, low sugar muffin, a WW ice cream or something like that. It seems to have worked for me. I have not gained anything and in fact, continue to lose a pound now and then. I exercise religiously and I think that keeps everything in balance and allows me to have that evening snack. I do watch my portions during the day and weigh everything and I continue to drink at least one protein drink per day. Have you gained any weight back? If not, don't worry so much. I probably consume about 1200 calories a day now. Hope this helps and good luck. Linda
