Decision Made

I have decided that I'm going to make the trip and go back to Massachusetts and see the group who did my open RnY in 1999.  I have an appt with them on March 28th.   Prior to going I'll have an upper GI done so that I can take the report and films with me.  My hospital here puts the films on disc so it makes it very easy to take them to another doc. In the meantime I'm going to continue to look for a support group in the Philly/Montgomery County area.  I do know that I need to get to one on a regular basis. I figure that at the end of the month I will have some answers and be much closer to losing the weight I've gained.

Thanks for the support ladies.  I need to figure out where Hamilton is, is that NJ?  If so, that's further than I want to travel.  I live in Limerick, PA so I don't want to travel further than I need to.

Good luck Di... It's got to be hard on you people who have babies after surgery! I could not even imagine! ( I gained most of my weight having babies) I'm so glad I was done having babies by the time I had my surgery.  I'm glad you are not giving up! You deserve so much to be happy about your weight...I hope you find a good solution to help you...and the support you need to get you thru this.  I really think it's going to happen for you...and I hope you stay here with us and keep us updated!  You need a happy ending to this!  :)  And I want to see it! Hugs! Anita

Thanks Anita! I will definitely stay with this group and I'll keep you all updated. I can't tell you how many DS folks have been singing the praises of that to me this week. They all think I should have that done as a revision.  Not sure I buy into the whole DS concept though.

Well, I would consider all things in your situation...I truly would. I have had no reason to give up on my RNY at this point...I still have things under control...For the most part! LOL ...kinda...sorta...No...no... I do! ( I HAVE TO!)   If I was in your shoes...I would absolutely think about it. It might be a good fit for you as long as you are willing and ready to take all the risks and the extra steps for supplements...then it might be great for you. No one can possibly blame you for wanting to do a revision to a different surgery!  I know I'll just be happy for you to be at peace!  Whatever works!!!  Every surgery has someone with a horror story...Every surgery has someone that wants to stop people from going thru what they did....But it's such a small handful that have these horror stories and they end up advocates because they are angry. But the majority go thru their surgeries without a hitch or minor bumps and bruises.  (WOW...just like real life without wls!) So YOU do what is GOOD for YOU!!!! Keep an open mind...and you'll find the right solution... Anita

Hi Diane, Good decision unless you can find a bariatric surgeon that may give you a once over to make sure all is well. I am from Wynnewood, been living in S.W. Florida for 12 years. My daughter is still in Montco in Collegeville...

Current weight:120 and still 5'4

Are you planning on staying in Montco? If so it might be a better idea to call the local hospitals, Phoenexville, Lankeau, Bryn Mawr and ask for patient advocate office and explain your situation. They might be able to refer you to someone close by. You don't want to be traveling back and forth to Mass for dr's appt.s There are great dr's all around you. I can't tell by posty or your page if you are RNY or DS. Which surgery did you have? I never knew WLS existed until 2003. Your surgery was done when only open was done, right? How did you get to Limerick from Mass? I lived in Mass, in Dedham while my husband was in a VA hopsital many years......omg I just figure out how long ago it was 39 yrs ago! Oh I am so old!!!
