I am 3 years out this past Septemeber and have gained 15 lbs in the last year.  I need to know where to start in order to loose these pounds.  It seems like I have it in my mind to do it, but then by mid-week, I am back to saying- Okay, next week.  What is a good way to start, what kind of basics do I need to go back to.  Could someone give me some suggestions, please...

Hi, I feel your pain.  I'm 3 years out too and have put on about the same amount of weight as you.  I've been searching for help, a friend, or some kind of suggestions as well.  I think we need to try to stick to the eating plan we used after surgery.  This sounds good but I have a dark chocolate habit that is killing me.  The old habits have snuck back into my life and I'm having trouble too.  Sorry I don't have any words of wisdom but just know that I am fighting the very same battle as you.  :-)

Well, I am glad I am not going through this alone.  At least I know its a few others out there going through th esame thing.  I think I will try that 5day pouch test next week, starting Monday, to hopefully put me on track.  The next thing I really need to do is start back exercising.  Maybe we can keep track of each others progress.

Staci, I know what you mean..maybe a support group that you can go to, join the accountability  group here, maybe call someone too. I find I need to talk to someone also to help with my accountability although just reading this forum really helps.
I made it through day one of protein today...If you want to partner up let me know!

I really think it would be a great idea to partner up, I know the support groups really help as well.  I stopped going - only because my life is so busy.  I really need to start making more time for myself.  Like I told Mandy~ I am going to start with th 5day pouch test and then take it from there.  That will probably give me a great start.

I'm a firm believer that the 5DPT is a good starting point.  It helps you get back to basics.  After that, be sure to drink your water, take your supplements, increase your exercise and journal what you eat.

I also think that regularly reading the boards at OH or any of the other support sites helps a lot.  Of course, if you have a support group you are comfortable with be sure to attend those meetings.

Good luck!

Girls same position here, I am 3.5 years out ad have gained about 20 lbs. The 5 DPT sounds good in theory, but i can never make it past day 1. I have tried at least 10 times. Just know that i feel your pain sistas!

You are not alone, some things to address:
Are you drinking alcohol? if yes stop for now.
Are you dinking with meals? if yes stop it now, follow the 30/30 rule
Are you exercising? You must exercise; start out slow and increase your activity.
Are you attending a bariatric support group? In not start going this month

The surgery will not keep you thin, that's your destiny. You are not a failure, you can get those 15 pounds off.

Suggestion: you can try the 5 day pouch test but I recommend reaching for protien first, then fresh veggies and fruits. For now stay away from pasta, rice or anything white. Oh yeah, if you are drinking diet soda, stop now, it's nasty for you and makes you crave more.

Keep posting, get support and think positive, you can do this!!

I really appreciate the encouragement, sometimes I do feel like I will not be able to loose it, I know that I just need to put my mind to it. I had slipped into those old habits of eating with meals, no regular exercising.  Luckily, I don't drink.  Not to mention I was not reaching for my protein 1st, just all over the plate.  Also, soda has never been an issue for me, I just don't drink it.  I only drink water and Crystal Light.  So all of the suggestions that have been given to me, I plan to take them with me on my 'RENEWED' journey.  This time keep it off.  Thanks a bunch!
