40 Friggin' Pounds!!!
I'm 8 years out, and have gained back 40 pounds. I've always been up and down the same 10-15 pounds, but now it's not going away again. I had my extended TT done last August, and have gained 20 or so since then.
I know I have swelling (to the point of what I think is extensive, sometimes), but the fat that has come back is in my back and legs. I can' t chalk it all up to swelling anymore. I am SICK about it. I haven't been over 200 pounds in 7 years, swore I would never be again, and here I am. 203 as of this morning.
I've read that the body can sometimes find ways around the new physiology, and go back to where it is "programmed" to be with certain people. I'm wondering if that has some truth to it.
I know I need to totally overhaul my eating to see where the problem is, and I think I'm going to give that 5 day Pouch thing a good whirl. I'm thinking I'll start with a good cleanse, and see what happens.
I just got freaked out that it has happened so quickly, and has not stopped!
It seems a lot harder to lose the second time around.

Hi there,
It definitely is harder the 2nd time around but very possible. I was up about 10 pounds between September and November of this year. I was 2 years post op as of yesterday and HAD to stop the madness.
I knew that I would have to watch my weight forever and glad I kept weighing on a regular basis so that I could see when I was getting into problems.
I hit 150 again and I hadnt been 150 since September of 2007 after my tummy tuck.
Today, I am at 144 and on the downward swing. I went to a commercial weight loss program where I weigh once a week and have that accountability to watch what I put in my mouth. Its working so far. I have also started back with my exercise, which is critical to success.
Make sure to drink plenty of liquids, dont eat and drink at the same time (try to wait 1 hour or at least 30 mins before eating again) and take your vitamins. Protein forward meals and limit carbs.
Good luck to you and I know you will be successful, you have done so well thus far.

Hi CharlieGirl,
You can get those 40 pounds off. Forget diets. Embrace lifestyle change. Exercise everyday.
Reach for protein first then fresh veggies/fruits. Drink your water, take your vitimins. Start writting down how you are feeling. Look inside yourself, why are you reaching for food?
You are a success so keep that chin up!
Are you attending a bariatric support group? If not start going. There are many people in the same boat as you are. You are not alone.

I am having some of the same issues. I feel like I keep sabotaging myself. I am about 3.5 years out and never got to my goal weight. I started at 402 and got to 254 within 2 years, then stayed there for a year and have crept back up to 285 this morning....34 pounds back. I feel so stupid, like a failure, and even though I think I know what to do...I can't make myself do it.
I wonder...is it possible for me to ever actually get to goal? Has my body adjusted to it's new way of processing food?
I am sorry you are in the same boat, but at least I know I am not alone.
