My PS Consult..
Just wanted to say Thanks to all the messages people sent me about getting plastic surgery on the board and privately.
Today was my plastic surgery consult and it wasn't all that bad. The surgeon and the PA really made me feel comfortable.. even standing there totally nude! LOL. They took a lot of pictures.
I filled out the paperwork and the nurse will submit my info to the insurance company tomorrow morning. I should expect to hear something back in 7 to 14 days.
I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I have A LOT of skin so this is what I want. I wear some type of "tummy control" underwear everyday because I hate the skin on my stomach. It will be nice to be able to wear regular and pretty panties. I know, I know.. TMI! LOL
His plan is to do the stomach and breast at the same time of the hernia repair. It depends how quick the hernia repair goes.
Yesterday when they told me that the insurance would only pay for the paniculectomy, I did get discouraged because I thought they would only removed that bottom part and forget about the top of my stomach that has skin on it and sticks out. He explained to me that he pulls that muscle down as well. I would LOVE to have a Lower body lift but I know that's not even possible to get an insurance company to pay it. Overall, I'm pleased!
I work on the Gastric bypass/Trauma floor so I see soooo many things go wrong.
I want to go into this with a positve mind like I did with my WLS.
Thanks for listening to me ramble!

I'm so glad they made you feel comfortable. That's the majority of the nervousness, I'm so sure! My husband was so afraid for me to have WLS..until he met the surgeon and it was good. I think there's something about a man shaking another man's hand...It's so re-assuring for them. For us, we have to feel more comfortable because it's OUR body...If you're stressed, it just makes everything more difficult.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Kay,
I am impressed your insurance will pay for a panniculectomy; my previous would not. We just re submitted today to my new insurance. I also have another consult with UW resident plastic surgery program in case Ihave to pay for it myself; it would be 2-3 thousand less.
I am an old ICU nurse and have seen openheart patients that should not of made it off the table go home in a week and 21 year old die from a ear infection. You never know whatis going to happen. If I did not need a hernia repair I would not have a TT, but since I do I might as well go for it I figure. The TT will be less risky than the TT.
Good luck I hope you get good news from the insurance company soon! Have a great weekend!
