Hi Dawn & All Others who come out to play

I love going to my support group, I totally agree about listening to the newbies and being reminded of how far I've come and helping others to get here too, it really makes me feel good...I have to be a little cautious though about what I say, the meeting is lead by a LAP-Bander who works for a local bariatric group, but is NOT a medical professional per say...Since this is not the group that did my surgery, I am a guest in their group and sometimes she says stuff that I totally disagree with, but do not feel comfortable openly saying so...The last meeting she was telling the group about Gout being a possible side-affect of gastric surgery and that it is caused by eating too much protein, then she went on to tell us that we should not exceed 50 grams of protein a day, I about fell out of my chair biting my tung, went home and did a little research on the internet, she definately needs to be checking her data before making blanket statements to the group, many of the newbies will take her words at face value and she was a little off on the info provided ( + this condition affects men 99% of the time, in our group of about 40 only 3 are men so not adding that caviat is important in my eyes)...Anyway, enough of my rant...

On to the food:

B - Starbucks venti sf nf peppermint pattie latte

L - chicken, artichoke, garlic & mozz sausage + 1/4 cup of sauteed onions

S - 1 tbsp caesar almond slivers, 1 homemade protein ball, small palm homemade trail mix

       couscous & 1/3 cup of peas-n-corn

S - protein cocoa

Water/ crystal light 120 oz                         Cals : 988     Fat : 43     NetCarbs : 64     Protein : 83

I know what you mean. I don't believe the same things that some people do and they usually are the ones in charge of the meetings. For one thing. I don't take an iron supplement. AT all. ever. My multi vitamin has a small bit in it but other than that, nothing. When I was pregnant they were pushing iron supplements and it caused such horrible constipation that I had to stop. That being said, my iron has gone UP in the last two years on my lab results. It's at high normal now.

I don't recommend it to anyone but it's completely from my diet that I get my iron. red meat (including bison, beef liver...lean ground beef and steak) with tomato. It's what I do and it generally gets me flamed, even in person.

Your list looks LUCIOUS! really really good. and lots of water...you're right...YUM. Keep up the good work. See ya.
