If I put it in writing it will mean more, right?

OK.  Today I think I got back on track.  I walked a mile at a brisk pace, and I will do a 20 minute workout video when I get home. For breakfast I had a pint of skim milk.   For lunch I had 8 small boiled shrimp and 1 cup of a vegetable mixture (Snap peas, brocolli, cabbage and carrots and bok choy) that I steamed in the micro with one tablespoon of ginger chilli sauce.  I had 1/2 cup of fresh mango and pineapples.  For a snack I had 1/3 cup of nut and cranberry mixture (almonds, cranberries and sunflower seeds)  I have had 5 large cups of hot tea to drink.  (Caffine and all I am afraid).  For dinner I am going out to a Thai restaurant.  I will have beef and eggplant.  (1/3 portion and skip the rice).  I am 3 years out.  I recently regained 10 lbs.  Don't flame me  here, but I went from 105 to 115.  I know it is not much to weigh, but my clothes feel tight, and I feel huge and 10 lbs is 10 lbs.  I quit smoking in May and that is when I gained the weight.  Since then all I want to do is put food in my mouth.  I will be somewhere and all of a sudden the saliva in the back of my mouth begins to taste funny.  This is when I would put a cigarette in my mouth.  Now I put food.  I can't stand the taste of my own saliva when it is not working on something like food or smoke.  My new goal!!!! I am going to lose those 10 lbs and then I am going to treat myself to a cruise!  I have wanted to go on one for years.  I just turned 49 years old and it is about time I got to do something fun like that.  I will let you know how it goes. In the meantime, do you think I am eating too much?

Yes, writing it down does count and it helps you stay accountable! honest is the best policy. You had a good eating day plus you took a walk!
I understand how you feel about the 10 lbs! It seems like a little but it makes you feel like it's 50 lbs.

Keep up the good work and stick with it!

I underwstand fretting over 10. I have as well. I'm larger then you, weight wise, but body wise I'm pretty sure  I'm right where I should be. Writing things down, and eeping yourself accountable is a wonderful tool.
i notice I strive to eat healthier and take better care of myself when I keep track of what I'm eating. Quitting smoking is the big thing in there too. The desire to replace the hand to mouth of smoking with eathing is EASY. Don't feel too bad for being human on that one.

As to the taste of your salive you may want to try sucking a sugarfree mint.. etc at the worst moments. Icebreakers sours have helped me in the past when I feel like I'm on an eating frenzy.

Best of luck, and it sounds like you're doing great so far.

I completely understand fretting over 10 pounds! It may sound unrealistic but when I put on even a pound my mind is thinking what is the difference? 1 pound, 10 pounds, 100 pounds...I mean losing control is losing control, for me.

Yes, writing it down does help. You can go back and look at any trends like more carbs, more sugar and adjust it...I'm really big on lists!

Don't sweat the caffeine for now. If it bothers you when you get more control down the road, you can cut back..one thing at a time, dear..

Have fun on the cruise.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Thank all of you for understanding and for responding.  Today has been pretty good.  I had to get up at 7:00 am and made cupcakes, for our church yard sale.  I was able to resist nibbling, and I was so proud of myself.  For lunch I I had 1/4 barbeque pork sandwich (no bread) i/4 cup beans and 1/4 cup slaw along with 2 cherry peppers (My favorite).  Hubbyis taking me out to celbrate my birthday.  Dinner is going to be at a Mexican restaraunt, and I am not sure of my good choices there.  Does anyone have suggestions.  I really have the hardest time resisting the chips and salsa!  Football loving, tough guy husband has bitten a big bullet and signed us up for a private, 1hour, swing dance lession and then we will go to a swing dance party for 2 hours.  How great is that.  His idea, no help from me, he just thought I would like it.  Boy was he right!  This is a hugely thoughtful present.  He gets major brownie points for this one.   I will let you know how it goes.  Your input is invaluable to me right now, so thanks for your replies.  Love 2 all, D
