Topic: RE: 15 years later

I had my RNY Sept 2004. I lost 107 lbs. I've kept the weight off, recently gained 10 lbs. Now I'm at WW and lost 5 of those lbs. I tried doing it myself, but I need that accountability of weighing in. As it's been said everywhere, the surgery is only a tool. I have to make a conscious decision every day, every meal - to be aware of what I put into my mouth. Along the way ,I've had 2 episodes of bleeding ulcers that required transfusions and hospitalization. All of that being said,  I would do it again in  heartbeat!!

Topic: abdominal and back pain 5 yrs post op VSG

This past weekend I had severe nausea and vomiting along with searing pain in my right side upper abd and right flank area. Ended up in the ER with no resolution. ...CT and ultrasound showed nothing abnormal.    Labs were all good too. This was not a stomach bug... this was intense pain.  It came in waves. I could be just fine for an hour or so....other than the nausea and the it would hit like a ton of bricks. I was sent home with prilosec, pain meds and nausea meds. And told to follow up with my pcp for  EGD. PCP could not get me in this week so I asked her to just put the referral in for theEGD. Hopefully they call soon.  Oh.... and last night I started to have pain more in the middle to the left side and straight thru to my back.  That's been on and off all day. My appetite is starting to come back a little bit. Any thoughts?  I'm 5 yrs post VSG AND have sadly gained back about 30 of the 60 I lost this go around. ..I was a revision from a lap band...I'm still down 69 from that.

unfortunately, I have gained a lot of weight in the past few months.  Steroids? I'm at the lowest dose now and need to lose 40-50 pounds.  I'm going to see my VSG surgeon next week to check in w/him. Is there a simple, easy way to do some sort of revision or modification w/the sleeve? Thanks for your help, I'm very discouraged.

More than likely not.  Insurance for face is tough unless your nasal folds restrict your breathing.

Hi, I'm Naomi, I am almost 3 years out, and I have gain 26lbs. Sunday, I went to buy some pants and I realized that I went up one size, it felt like hitting rock bottom. I'm trying to regroup, watching my diet, as well as the GYM. That damn candy and those hideous cookies, smdh! Christmas is coming, so I better be good.

I'm going thru a lot, as well, life changes. I'm in college, going for a BSN. In January, I'm going to be moving to PR to finish my BSN and to spend more time with my aging father. I'm also in a relationship, he lives in PR, so I'm moving in with him, we have plans to marry by the end of next year. I'm constantly in anxiety mode.

I hope we can all regroup ourselves and have a good outcome, as we first did.

Hi,

I have lost about 150 lbs and have significant loose skin. Does insurance cover the costs of this surgery?

Thanks!

I would not trust anyone except a great orthopedic doc that does things like that... It is an injection into your spine... only someone who knows what they do should do that. Ask around for a great (good is not good enough) back specialist

Thank you!  I was actually thinking about getting a steroid injection.  Now would that have to be a referral kind of thing through  my bariatric surgeon, or done by my primary physician?

^^^ what H.A.L.A said - also, ensure you are taking a PPI - even if over the counter - while taking nsaids on a temp basis.
