well... im flo (florence whatever floats your boat) I got RNY LAP on 5/9/07 so i am officially 1w1d p-op... i think i still have a little bit of gas in my shoulder but other than that i think i am fine... im glad to have found others like me... i have pcos... pain in the butt... i am also on soulcysters but most of the women on there are older than me... does anyone know if i can put neosporin on my wounds? just to help them heal...? and also since i am still on full liquids i have been searching for other forms of protein but i know about the physique cookies (power meal) i was just wondering since it is high in sugar but no added sugar is it ok for me? it doesnt say any where that there is sugar in it or atleast i didnt think it did... but can someone help me and give me their opinion... i dont like my nutritionist at all... everytime i see her or talk to her it seems like she is in a rush and just wants to get the convo done and over with... but she isnt like that with every patient... when i saw her during PATS i kinda knew just about everything she was telling me already...and she seemed a little pissed that i knew and she didnt have to explain much... geez i wouldve been happier in her position... ugh,... well now i know i liked these cookies before surgery but they have 20g of protein in them and a woman at my gym where i was buying them also had wls and said she purees it with a scoop of peanut butter and a little sugar free choco syrup or soy milk and eats it like that... i wanted to try it but i am afraid because of the sugar content even though none of the ingredients is a bad one or atleast i dont think so... not according to the guidlines... sorry if i am typing too much here...  also... to those of you who have already lost most of your weight do you have that extra skin problem or have you beaten that by doing something that others are not doing? please i would like some feedback on that... i am so worried about that for some odd reason... not really worried but just dont want it to happen and if i can atleast prevent some of it... i will... tia florence

I dont think those cookies are a good choice... 1 cookie has 450 calories... 70g carbs and FORTYSIX grams SUGAR for only 20 carbs... I would reccomend finding a protein powder instead... you want to to look for high protein, little or no sugar/carbs and low calories. My initial post-op eating plan called for 400-500 calories and 70-80g protein... 1 cookie would put me over the calories and barely touch my protein!! The sugar is WAY to high... even if you do not dump by eating sugar early out you will start to build up your tolerance quicker. Over time you will naturally build up tolerance to certain things but you dont want to rush that process. Also with protein powders... if you are mixing with milk/soy it also has sugar (all dairy does) so you want to take that in account when picking a powder. My personal fav is BioChems100% whey protein... but everybody has their own taste. If you have a place like EarthFare, Natural Market Place, Whole Foods... they all sell protein samples from 1.50-2$... GNC has isopure drinks which are good... but expensive at $3 each bottle. Anyways... I have taken a HUGE interest in nutrition post-op so if you have any questions feel free to email me and I will help  you the best I can :) Skin - pretty much all you can do for skin - drink your water, keep your skin hydrated (lotion), meet your nutritional goals, take your suppliments and WORK OUT! Oh... and pray for the best! I will say that I thought my body would be in much better shape at my current weight of 171... my goal is 155 so I am close... even thou I started as a lightweight I still have the same problem areas.. arms, stomach and inner thighs... not as bad as others who were much bigger but still not liking it. Being young you really want to look "normal"... there are many people who would be THRILLED to have my body but being young and single I am already looking into Plastic Surgery to take me the rest of the way!
