I had to do 1 week liquid diet after surgery. Nothing tasted good. I didn't even want to eat. I just started to eat SF popsicles until the pureed stage. Kimberly, you can do it. Think about that pair of jeans you want to fit into. That's what I did and it helped. As Tony Little (the gazelle machine guy) says You Can Dooooo IT!!!!

10-14 days is pretty standard for a POST-OP diet actually, Kim.  I think mine was 10 days, or something like that.  This diet is pretty important, actually, Kim.  The main reason is, your stomach is healing, and you don't want to even risk anything enflaming it.  Plus, you don;t want to put any pressure on the new wiring down there, not yet.  So this is actually pretty important. Drink a little water often.  This will help a lot with the hunger.  Anything you ingest.  Broth, Jello, etc.  Shoot for a little bit OFTEN as opposed to a lot in widely spaced intervals.  This will help big time with the hunger. Talk to you soon.  Welcome to the loser side, and good luck! Sir Brockington IV

My surgeon and his partner both require a 2 week liquid post-op diet... it is very common. Its not a punishment - its allowing your body to heal... think of it in that terms and it should make it a little easier!

2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5

from what I understand from my doctors so far, I am going to be 4 weeks on either side of surgery on LD. It seems pretty standard.  I hope you can find things you like, I have heard good things about broth from soups that are yummy (atleast its something to stimulate your tastebuds)  I understand the blahness of jello.

Well you will be glad to know that your 2 week diet is nothing compared to the 4 week post op diet that I am required to do!
