Hello all First of all please don't flame me. Im just looking for advice. I have been too embarrased to aks my doctor this question. So I have been trying to make all kinds of diet changes before my surgery in December. Cutting out sweets and all that, but I javnt stoped drinking yet. I kind of had the mindset to party up untill the last day. I was just wondering is the drinking going to enlarge my liver. Should I stop now to help shrink my Liver?

I do know that drinking does enlarge your liver, yes.  How long of a sober period you'll need to reduce your liver size, I have no idea.  Good luck!

Yes it will enlarge your liver...you will need to stop before surgery...how soon is up to your surgeon....The answers I have heard on how soon to start pre-op dieting vary widely. My surgeon required one week of pre-op dieting, others have required up to a month....Don't feel embarassed, they are used to being asked all kinds of questions, many are more risque or taboo than that!  p.s. plan on not drinking any alcohol for at least 3 months, very possibly longer than that - after surgery. Again, depending on YOUR surgeon's guidelines
