I was just wondering how much weight u guys needed to lose before you had sugery?  My doctor wants me to lose 10lbs this month an he said if I can't do that then we can't even TALK about surgery.. but then when I come back and get weighed he said that he's going to give me this medicine (anti-depressant) that curbs your appetite and he wants me to come back 2 months later and then he will set me up for a consultation.  Thanks ya'll...

My doctor told me to lose between 15-20 lbs, but I wasn't even told that untill I had my final consultation and was given my date.  ONLY 25 DAYS UNTIL IM A LOSER!

my doc asked me to try and lose some weight, but he didnt give me a number. then the next time i saw him, which was like a week  and a half b4 surgery, i had put on 5 lbs. he was not happy and said if i gained one more lb b4 surgery he was going to postpone it. so i had to go in the friday b4 just to get weighed. i had lost 13 lbs in that week cause i was scared ****less.

My program didn't require any pre-op weight loss goals, they did ask that we not gain any because they were pretty strict about not attempting laproscopic surgery on patients over a certain weight (400 I think?) They did ask that we start trying to incorporate some of the lifestyle changes beforehand and we had to do a one week pre-op diet which was very low carb and low fat to force our bodies to use up the glycogen stored in the liver - shrinking it and making it easier for them to move it out of the way to build the pouch using the laproscopic technique. The fear of waking up to find out my liver was too big and that they had to convert me to an open procedure was enough to motivate me to stick to that one week pre-op diet and I lost 11 lbs that week!
