Need some help!

So I am 1 week post op and doing great, off the pain meds, I feel great! But I am having so much trouble with this one medicine...liquid antacid. It's killing me! No matter how I take it, it makes me gag and lose all motivation to do anything such as drink all the crazy amount of liquids I need to get in or my proteins. It tastes sooo disgusting! Has anyone else been on this?? Any suggestions? I've tried taking it quick, mixing with other meds so I only have to do one gross thing instead of 2, mixed it with crystal light (best option so far, but it takes a lot of crystal light to even slightly mask the taste). Its just sooo gross!!

haha this is more of a vent, but if anyone has anything it'd be greatly appreciated!!

This is the first time I have even heard of anyone being required to take liquid antacid. Is it just to mitigate the risk of ulcers, or are  you a special case.  All of my surgery center's patients are instructed for the first year to take a prescription antacid called Protonix, or Prilosec - our choice. But it is just a little pill, I think I was to wait for weeks until after surgery before starting though, but I'm not sure - I do know i was given pain pills - so what I'm getting at is - why liquids and not tiny pills? My advice call your surgeon, explain your dillema and ask them - is it OK for me to switch to a pill form or maybe a chewable or meltable form? I would guess that they probably will say yes....good luck

Yes, it is to reduce ulcers. We take it in liquid form for 2 weeks and then we can take pill form after. We take 4 different kinds of medicines right after surgery 3 are liquid, 1 is powder, then we have to take a calcium supplement, and a multivitamin. Pretty much a pain in the arse...but yeah I'll trying calling my surgeon see if he has any ideas. Thanks!

hmm good idea, I will definitely ask him about that. I called today and he said he had no solutions but it is essential that I take it, so i guess I will keep chocking it down! But thanks for your help!
