Newbie here!

I am fairly new to OH and wanted to sort of introduce myself. My name is Jenn, I'm 22, live in Minnesota. Frigidly cold Minnesota, at that. Brrr! I'm pre-op. I have been to a few meetings, have really researched everything, and I hope to start the process within the month! I'm pretty nervous that I won't be approved for so many reasons, but I guess I will have to jump that hurdle when I get to it. Anyway... Hello.

Welcome, fellow Minnesotan.  I am in the FAR southwest part of the state, down near Sioux Falls South Dakota (near the SD and IA borders).  It is currently 5 above zero with no wind chill, so, HEATWAVE!   I hope you enjoy it here at WLS20's.  These folks are very knowledgable.

ALSO, I was nevous that I wouldn;t get approved pre-op, too.  I had no co-morbities and was only 125 lbs. overweight.  But all diets failed me, and I wanted WLS so bad.  If you show your convictions, and that you really really want this, I'm sure your surgeon will get you approved.

It was over 50 below up here with the windchill the other night. I think it's a bit better but good lord! Way too cold for me. Thanks for all the warm welcomes! Hopefully the hurdles are very low, lol. I cannot wait to get started on this 'new life' journey, though.

Welcome. I am pre-op too. I am just starting out though. Going to my first seminar this month. I hope if you come across any hurdles they are small and low to the ground. Good luck.

Welcome to the board.  I thought it was cold here today because it was 61, LOL, i couldn't live in your weather. 

Girl, tell me about it. I just moved back to Minnesota a few months ago from sunny California. BIG mistake! I made it "just in time" for the winter season. Oops.

I had my surgery on October 9, 2007.  I think that so far I have lost over 65 pounds, but I will have to wait until I go to the doctor.  I decided against the weighing everyday, so that I can focus on more than a number.  I do know one thing for sure, I feel 100 times better.  I have a lot more energy.  It was worth it.  I made my new year resolution in January of 2007.  And I was able to have the surgery ten months later.  I live in Alabama so my insurance requires that you stay on a regulated diet for six months (technically it is 7).  I remember how scared I was, and just be prepared to make life changes.  It really is a different life from the one I had before.
