So, you are on pace to lose 106 pounds in the first year?  I don't see a problem with that.  Enjoy your accomplishments.  Focus on the good, not the bad.  I think you are doing fine!

What does your surgeon say? Did they tell you what to expect? Do NOT compare yourself to others - depending on the type of surgery and how much bypassed will change how quickly one loses weight. Also try converting your weight loss to a percentage... if somebody has 100lbs to lose and loses 10, and another person has 200lbs to lose and loses 20... then they both lost 10%... if you look at just the pounds then most say hey they lost double than me and get upset.  I had proximal RNY... my surgeon said to expect 10-15lbs a month for the first 6, then 5lbs a month after that. My 6 month average was something like 9.75lbs so you are basically where I was at. I had approx 100lbs to lose at the time of surgery and it took me 1.4 years to reach surgeons goal and 1.5 years to reach my personal goal. Its not a race to the fini****s a matter of reaching the goals you set. I dont understand how you are regretting losing 53lbs? The point of this surgery isnt to make you skinny overnight - its to give you a tool that allows you to KEEP the weight off... thats where most of us struggle - we are EXPERTS at losing weight but horrible at keeping it off. Focus on teaching yourself how to use your tool, proper nutrition and good exercise habits - thats the most important, the scale will follow behind.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1

thank you so much for all your advice and I think I will do the percentage thing like you suggested.  i was also upset because my bariatric nutritionist told me at my appt that she didnt expect me to lose any more then 20-30 lbs more in the next 6 months I was like WTF.  for me I am 5'1 that is still an obess bmi.  but I am just going to keep on doing my best and just had a down moment yesterday gotta pick myself back up.  thanks again
