CONGRATS on the date!!!  I only had to do liquids for one day before the surgery so I can't give you much advice on that....on that date I just drank a lot of water, crystal light, chicken broth, and jello.  Not sure how the liquid diet for more than that goes...good luck and keep us posted!!!!

Congrats on getting a date! Don't party it up TOO hard.  Many surgeon's have some kind a policy about a patient gaining weight pre-op - some will even cancel surgery if you gain.  So be careful... As for what to get for the liquid diet, what did your surgeon tell you?  Is if a clear liquid diet or a full liquid diet?  A clear liquid diet would include 100% fruilt juices, broths, decaf teas, sugar free popcicles, sugar free jello and stuff like that.  A full liquid diet would include the stuff on the clear liquid diet along with stuff more along the lines of some kind of protien drink shake, sugar free pudding, maybe carnation instant breakfast, milk, and creamy soups.  If you're not sure which your surgeon wants you on you should call and get a clarification.

Congrats on your date! I am on a high protein liquid diet right now and my surgeons office requires that we drink 4-5 of either SlimFast, Boost, Ensure or Carnation Instant Breakfast per day along with any of the clear liquids listed in a previous post. I would definitely call your surgeons office and check because every surgeon's policies are different! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on getting a date!  As far as partying it up... watch the alcohol. One of the objectives of the pre-op liquid diet is to shrink the liver. This makes the surgery easier for the surgeon (the liver is right near or on top of the stomach and the surgeon needs to get around it when operating). The smaller your liver has gotten the less risk you pose to yourself. Weight loss reduces the size of the liver. Drinking alcohol will contradict the liquid diet, as the liver is the organ that processing it.  I would say that if that is what you meant by "partying it up" keep it to this weekend and then don't drink. Just for your own sake. Remember, there will be plenty of opportunities in your much thinner future to do this.  Good luck!!!

I decided not to party it up last weekend. I am basically just doing normal things i'd do, i went to a few of my favorite restraunts before i start the liquid diet like i am sure you guys did. My mother is cooking me roast beef with mashed potatoes tonight, but in 6 days, it's all liquids. I have a few questions. I haven't began to shop for foods yet, but is all this sugar free stuff expensive? Also for popsicles what ones are good tasting and sugar free..
