touchy subject

Okay so i dont really know where to start on this topic but i am using the nuva ring and I was on vacation and wasnt around my boyfriend for a month so i didnt keep using it because i was actually out and i didnt have time to get a percription...well i think that was a mistake i dont know...my boy friend and i have been with eachother almost a year and he is a good person and the parents love him btw he is in his 20's...so this month i am a WEE maybe 4 or 5 days bit late and i of course will have to make some decisions on what to do if this is going to be an issue butttttt i cant let my mother know before surgery in 5 days whether it is a yes or a no...im just wondering if they check your blood for that when they do the blood tests...
because my grandma will be here home with me afterwards and that is when if i dont have my period she will help me do what needs to be done :S
so i dont want a scene at the hospital if they check your blood for pregnancy and it comes out to be positive..which is uncertian right now...:S:S:S

You need to get tested before surgery - they will ask if there is any chance you are pregnant and you have to be honest for your own health and safety. There are home pregnancy tests now that are more advanced and can test sooner - your best bet would be to call your OBGYN and speak to their nurse and let them know whats going on and see wha they say..... call your PCP if you get nowhere with the OB, or call the surgeon. You *cannot* go into the surgery not being 110% sure.

When I had my surgery they tested me right before.  Even though I told them there was no way that I would be pregnant, they said they had to do it.  So I would take a home pregnancy test before you go.  You could also be "late" because of stress.  I would definatly test first, so you dont have that akward moment in front of grandma if you are pregnant! I was 3 days late because of the change in my diet and stress.  I was also given a mandatory test the morning of surgery.  If you are, they will NOT do surgery.  Best of luck to you.

Like a lot of others said, yup they do the test before your surgery, like 20 min in my case!! I would go out and get a test!  But like someone else said it could be because of a pre-op liquid diet too.

yup just like everyone said they do a test, usually urine but if cannot pee they will do blood. even if there is 100% your not pregnant you still have to give them that test. do yourself a favor and go and buy a test before you go to the hospital i also wanted to say you are probably fine, however there is always that chance, even on the birthcontrol. but anyways the hormones stay in you, also when going off birthcontrol periods go out of wack, meaning the next period is almost never going to be "on time" once going off the bc. also you are stressing, probably doing some type of diet, maybe liquid. all go into factors of have a missed or late period.  now just make sure post op you take the bc like your suppose to becuase you will become more fertile with all the weight your going to loose.  so just calm down with the what if's, buy a test, and if you really want to make sure buy the digital test that blantly says prenant or not pregnant. good luck.
