Medical Alert Questions

I was reading on the RNY board about a medical alert bracelet, and if we need one or not.  I was never issued one by my surgeons office, but I have some questions about if you guys think that we should have them?  I found a place on ebay where you can buy them basically they say "GASTRIC BYPASS NO NG TUBE WITHOUT SCOPE"
I seriously was thinking that this is a good idea and I probably should have one I was issued a card for resturants but no EMT is going to go through my wallet before they start treating me if I am in like a car crash or something.

I was curious what the general opinon on a medical alert bracelet or necklace is around here.

I have one!  Mine says Gastric By Pass, Allergic to Benozoine and Betadine.  I would hope a medical professional would know what to do if it says the bypass, but I needed my allergies on there since the reactions suck majorly.

I have one - says  "Hypoglycemic  Gastric Bypass  Alergic to Doperidal and Reglen"  I don't have it with me, so I might have messed up the spelling, but you get the idea.  I needed the alergies on there for the same reason Jaci, they make me CRAZY for days, so it is just bad.  The thing about the NG tube is if you need one - YOU WILL get one whether they have a scope or not because your life depends on it.  I have been told that whomever is putting the scope in will feel the resistance from the pouch, so it isn't like they are going to perforate it, but your pouch comes second to saving .  So I would just put "Gastric Bypass" on it and let the EMT's decide what to do with it.  And I have the hypoglycemic thing on there so if someone finds me unconcious somewhere they are going to have a pretty good idea of what happened.   

Someone posted over on the Lap Band board that you can get them made for about $15 on Ebay...
