Week 1 – January 21 – January 27 – 469 minutes Week 2 – January 28 – February 3 – 348 minutes Week 3 – February 4 – February 10 – 399 minutes Week 4 – February 11 – February 17 – 135 minutes Week 5 – February 18 – February 24 – 260 minutes Week 6 – February 25 – March 2 -  Week 7 – March 3 – March 9 -  Week 8 – March 10 – March 16 -  Week 9 – March 17 – March 21 -  Total – 1611 minutes My goal, since the day before the exer-thon, has been 3660 minutes….or 1 hour per day for the 61 days.  I figured, I work 7-8 hours per day, I sleep 6-7 hours per day, the least I can do is exercise 1 hour per day. Through 35 days, I am exercising 46 minutes per day for an exer-thon pace of 2807 minutes.  Good…but not good enough. Unfortunately, a lull in mid-February really hurt me. To reach my goal I have to exercise 2049 more minutes in the final 26 days of the exer-thon, or 79 minutes per day. This should be attainable, as I am ramping up my exercise to 80 minutes per day from here on out.  55 minutes per day on the treadmill, and 25 minutes per day on the elliptical. I can do this, and I will do this, because I really, really want this!  When I go on my vacation on March 23rd, and I sit down in that airplane seat, I know I’ll be so much happier with this feather in my cap. I can, and I will.  Good luck to everyone in the stretch run of our exer-thon. Remember the words of Jim Valvano.  Jim was the men’s basketball coach of North Carolina State University in the early 80’s.  In the ’82-’83 season they won the NCAA tournament, beating a seemingly unbeatable University of Houston team.  In 1993 he gave a speech at the ESPY awards, after winning an award for his courage in battling cancer.  In his speech, he said the words, DON’T GIVE UP.  DON’T EVER GIVE UP.  He died 2 months later. So, my friends, DON’T GIVE UP.  DON’T EVER GIVE UP.

You should share some of that motivation with me. I'm at 0.00 when it comes to being motivated to exercise.

I can certainly understand your lack of motivation...it is very difficult. I just know that socially and mentally, my life has a lot yet to be determined.  But how my physical life will be at 40, 50, 60 years old is in my hands.  And, at 29, I don't have any kids yet.  And I want to be healthy enough to play with them for as long as I can.  And I can control that now.  I guess that is my motivation.

Thanks for your post.  I'm going back to work tomorrow and thus, back to the gym which will do wonders for me.  I've been off and on since I've been home so I have no idea how many minutes I truly have done for this exerthon.  Oh well, I'll just start re-counting from tomorrow on.

So you don't know the number.  So what?  You know you have done something, and that is all that really matters! Good luck going back to work and back to the gym!
