Left Side cramp

So this may be totaly unrealated to my RNY, but I thought it wouldnt hurt to ask.  For about the past 2 weeks I have been sporadically getting this side cramp in my left side abdominal area, almost on top of my hip.  I have no idea whats going on, but hwen it comes, it takes my breathe away.  Has anyone experienced this or know whats going on?  I go to the DOC on 3/20, but I thought maybe I could ifnd out before then.
