Hey there everybody! I'm kinda new here. I just started to figure out what an awesome thing that forums can be! I haven't had surgery yet, but should have it in the next month.  There are a lot of questions and advice to ask, but I'm gonna start this one out with profile info!! How do you guys get your profiles looking as good as they look! This plain white background isn't working for me anymore. And I tried to add a playlist and it wouldn't add that either. HELP ME!! Question #2...   Do they put you on a no food for 24 hrs before surgery...what are the instructions 24 hrs before surgery...I know they all vary.  I hope to get to know many of you. It's awesome to see the support that I've seen given here.  Myspace: myspace.com/kaymarie01s Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, I cannot answer Q1 because I am still unable to figure it out, sorry.  However Q2 is one I know from my own WLS. I had to do a 10 day liquid fast, it was so hard and I felt horrible during those days. It all was worth the headaches and growling from my tummy now that I look back. My doctor said the reason he has individuals do the liquids only is because the weightloss makes preforming the WLS go more smoothly because everything should be out of your system with 10 days of no food. Plus the large amounts of liquids help push food and waste through your system, which can hold upto 50 lbs of waste (eww). All Doctors are different and your will tell you exactly what he expects and wants you to do, he will most likely have you meet with a nutritionist as well to explain the pre-op diet and the diets/stages to follow after your WLS. Best of luck and please keep me posted! Dani

Welcome to the board :-) As for the first question, no clue.. my profile is plain :-) Question 2 - I was on a 2 week liquid pre-op prior to surgery... the day before I had to do the bowel prep and I think I was on clear liquids only? It was so long ago I dont remember 100%.

Q1...been a while, not sure. Q2...All surgeons are different. I didn't have to do a liquid diet , I was put on a 1200 calorie healthy eating plan and then at 3pm the day before surgery I had to start my bowel prep, half a bottle of magnesium citrate. After 5pm nothing but clear liquids. At 7pm I had to take the second half of the bowel prep and then I was NPO(nothing at all) after midnight. Like the other girls said, it just depends on your doc.

TT/TL/AL/BL with Aug 6/15/2012! Looking good so far!

Q2- From what I've seen, it all depends on the surgeon. Everyone seems to have different pre-op diets. Mine will be a 14 day liquid diet, but I will be allowed a small meal (lean Cuisine, grilled chicken and veggies) in the evenings for the first 10 days. The last 4 is all liquids. Your surgeon and/or dietician should go over everything with you.

Welcome to the 20's Board!  I will see if I can help.... Question 1 - It depends on what you want to do... If you want to change the background of your profile (which is something I actually know how to do): -go to your profile -right above your avatar (picture) click on  "customize profile" -click on "change the look and feel" -then under "Profile wall paper" click on "browse" and you can upload any picture you want for your background If you want special images to separate your blog posts, do the same thing under "blog separators" If you want to post pics in blog posts you have to upload them to a site like photobucket.com (free, you can edit photos there, I like it a lot) and the copy and paste the actual image from photobucket to your blog post (not the URL or Tag, just the actual picture - don't ask me why it works, it is magic or something for all I know ) If you surf around the "customize profile" thing you can change fonts, background colors. you can add a weight tracker, and I'm sure there is a way to add music (though I don't have a clue as to how) This Obesity Help Tutorial Page might be of some help... http://www.obesityhelp.com/content/tutorials.html And for Question #2 - it was clear liquids for me, then nothing after like 5 or 7 - and everyone else is going to have a different story. I hope this helps!
