Hi all I posted this over on the main board, but I also wanted the advice of my fellow twentysomethings:
Hi Im about six and half months out now and have about 48 more pounds to lose to reach my goal weight. I was wondering did anyone else plan to reach their goal weight after the first year?  right now I am thinking that it is a bit unresonable to lose 48 more pounds in 5 and half more months. I was thinkg more that I would be happy if I achieved goal weight by a year and a half. Does this sound resonable to anyone else?

I reached my doctor's goal at eight months, and mine about two months later. I think...You guys correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most surgeons hope to see around ten pounds a month as an average. so you may reach goal in the next five months. The rate you lose at will taper off near the end, but someone as motivated as you are will most likely reach your goal of 48 more pounds if you've given yourself 11 months to do it... They say 18 months is your losing "window" with an RNY, but if you're only 48 from goal, I think you will probably be getting there sooner...

thanks. Right now I'm loseing about 8 pounds a month which I know would get me almost to goal in about five months, but I keep hearing that at six months the wieght loss really slows down. I'm very goal orinited so I'm trying to give myself a resonable amount of time so I don't get frustrated.

My doctor wants me at 200 when I come in for my 1 year appointment and at like 175 for a goal, so I dont think he is expecting me to be at "goal" on my 1 year appointment, I think it is looking more like he is expecting me to be at goal more like 18months.  So that is what I am shooting for, except I am shooting for a goal that is a little smaller than his 175. I think in general we are all going to make it and make it there at our own pace =) You have done sooo well shasta!

I hit dr's goal at 9 months.  I am only 12 pounds from my personal goal so I am most probley going to hit that by about 11 months maybe a year. My dream goal is 20 pounds lower than my personal goal so maybe, just maybe I might be able to reach it and that will be more around 18 months.
