A little concerned.
I know I had surgery and all but I'm starting to think that maybe my doctor did something else other than the rerouting my insides because it seems that I am not having any problems w/ anything that I have tried. (KNOCK ON WOOD) I am 5 days out and I did well on the water, tea, jello, liquid pain meds, protein shakes, mashed potatoes, pureed stuffing, pureed scallop potatoes, and pureed chicken. Also when I drink it doesn't seem to bother me at all to the point that I have to stop myself and remember to sip. I have had no nausea, no pains other than surgery pains, and virtually no problems at all. Was anyone else like this??
Don't get me wrong because I don't want any problems but it seems that everyone I have talked to had some type of tolerence problem this early out.
However, I had cheated and had some mashed potatoe today for Christmas dinner and even added a little gravy. i even had a little oatmeal with maple extract and Splenda brown sugar for breakfast. I was perfectly fine. I'm having absolutely NO problems and even have to slow myself down... even with drinking/sipping.
Very first out of surgery I seemed like you and could drink however much or how fast it wanted and it didn't bother me. My surgeon is very strict and I could only have full liquids for 2 weeks. During that time it stayed the same but now that I'm on soft foods, I HAVE to sip slowly otherwise it makes me kind of sick. I don't know if the food is necessarily the connection or just my body caught up with it all...but that's what happened to me! Good luck!!
