116.6 - up another .2. DH did not hit his goal and was up a pound which as we all know doesn't mean much. But he is getting very snacky. I think maintaining is going to be extremely difficult for him.

The changeover went well yesterday. Bathroom and kitchen cleaned up, dusting done, floors vacuumed, and sheets and towels were washed. DSD worked here until 4:30 then left for her friend's home and the 2 sisters arrived at about 5:30.

Today we plan to bring sandwiches to the National Seashore for mid-day, then we have reservations for dinner at that restaurant I mentioned the other day. It was super hot yesterday but today the temperature will be at least 10 degrees cooler, less humid and windy. I plan to pack a sweatshirt for the beach.

Have a surprising Saturday!

It's a cooker today! 90 degrees and humid. But here in our shady front yard, it is a bit cooler.

We did finally go kayaking yesterday, and it was serene and beautiful.

I was texting with my Mom about our plans for Monday moving the bedroom downstairs and this will not be an easy task. Not looking forward to the day, but I will do my best. Sigh.

DH and I went for coffee this morning since we can't on Monday. Found a few things in the thrift shop to help organize my parents bathroom downstairs, so a good trip.

When we got home, Nephew was here with his kids and they will be spending the night. I fear another Sunday I don't get to read my paper in peace. 3 kids is a lot of energy, doors left open and water spilled on the floor. I'm getting anxious about my wood floors, because no matter how many times I say we can't leave any water standing on the floor it doesn't seem to compute for the other adults in charge. And the open doors, I don't even care so much about the electricity for the AC, but I can't stand all the flies getting in. We never have flies in our house. They are very nice kids, and the chaos surrounding 3 kids is to be expected, but I'm getting tired. Their father closes on his condo August 5. And there is some very ugly things going down from his wife. As much as I try to not take on the anxiety he and BFF are feeling, I love him and I'm worried. So now I'm not sleeping well.

As for BFF she told me last night that she won't be able to live with her DS fulltime. I asked where she was going to stay? She said she'd figure it out and that one of our high school friends said she could live with him for awhile. His husband passed from cancer 2 years ago, so maybe he would like the company. I said I thought that sounded like a good plan. DH and I talked, and I will let her know she is welcome to stay until October 1 if she wants. I will be gone most of September, DH for 2 weeks of it.

Maybe this is my retired life! As soon as retirement started we went to take care of my aunt. When we got back Nephew's crisis started. I won't go into details, but it started for us when he was hospitalized for suicide ideation. We knew we couldn't leave him to twist in the wind, and even if it's hard, we made the right choice. Now the situation with my parents seems to be escalating even more. So we're taking care of nephew, helping with his kids, taking care of BFF, my parents... Thank God all is currently well with our own children. Those 6 weeks away in Brazil this winter are looking very, very good.

We're looking forward to attending an Anniversary Party for our friends this evening. And maybe some wine. Maybe more than 1 glass. Tomorrow is my birthday. We are going to theater matinee and then an early dinner. Also looking forward to it.

Happy early birthday, DD! My goodness, you've been needed by those you care about since retirement. It would have been nice to have it more spread out, but crises are rarely convenient! They are all so lucky to have you!

Super humid here too. Thank goodness for a/c, though my folks house doesn't have it and it's time to walk over there for dinner. I am lucky enough to have a basement they could run the ducting in and a single story. My dad's is 2 stories and old, though was remodeled in 2000, but the people before didn't put in ducting. So all the heat is in-floor, which you can't cut through nor can they run it up through the walls apparently.

We went and bought some new outdoor furniture for one of the three patios that has the original set and it's reaching end of life. It was a fun outing to this ginormous patio furniture store in the middle of nowhere. They have everything!

I should head over to help with dinner. Prepare to sweat!

121.5, low again.

Went to the farmers market this morning and bought beets, green beans and a big musk melon and a stone heart. We then went to a local art fair and picked up a piece of pottery for DH to toss his change in. They were selling pieces like hot cakes! Maybe I picked the wrong craft to sell at Art Fairs!

Grilling hamburgers for a crowd tonight. DSD, SIL, DSDs cousin, DC and DH and myself! Beets, macaroni salad and chips will be the sides. I made rice crispy treats yesterday.

Tomorrow we will have church and then in the afternoon DH has a golf date with our good friend. I might invite myself over to take a dip in their community pool with his wife! Temps here are hot and humid as well!

Greetings all

Sun is out big time and I am wearing a T shirt from 2001. Dog show shirt. Seems like some T shirts last forever and others fall apart quickly. So I did my walking at the gym. Used up about 82 calories which is not even a peanut butter cup. Oh well. I am still listening to Prince music thanks to DD. There sure is a lot of it - all crispy crunch tart and sweet and lush. Loving it. I was thinking about why I pretty much hate exercise and the feeling of being out of breath. I do not find exertion exhilarating like some do. I think it goes way back to when I was a clumsy chubby kid and I hated the feeling of never being able to keep up. I still feel that way. Probably why I do the gym alone.

After gym I went to the studio and learned more gossip and more about the plans to redesign the glass studio space. Makes sense to me. As usual there are two good sized rooms with only one person using them. People are still *****ing but that will tail off I hope.

Liz you sure have energy. Less weight = more energy. Yeah guys like to snack. DH does too. He snacks all day long and wonders why he can't eat dinner. Enjoy the SIL and the activities your DH has planned.

Drink wine DD. Sorry you are having so much drama. Seems like one **** storm is barely passed when another is on the horizon. Having kids around is fun but it always made me feel like I had to be on high alert to keep them from getting hurt. I so remember our little nephew climbing up the staircase on the edge outside the rail. At least BFF has a bit of a plan so you don't have to become her home place. Yay for Brazil!! Wishing you a not to stressful time with parents.

CC new outdoor furniture is always fun. Wishing you cooler weather.

Yeah Paula pottery sells at markets. But it takes a lot to make it. Plus no one wants to pay much for the artistic element. Wow you are grilling for a crowd. How do you fix beets? My friend used to make a beet salad like potato salad. Since it was pink people thought it was dessert!

Turkey roll ups on the menu tonight. Materals purchased for yum yum sandwiches tomorrow.

Peace out. Diane S

I just boiled them and sliced them up. I put butter on the ones I served tonight but have more unbuttered ones to use in beet salads.
