I can't believe that DH and Justice depart tomorrow and the girls arrive. This week went by so fast!
Last night's Barbie party was fun. Not a ton of ladies but I think that is because a lot are traveling right now and they had a "pink-themed" event two months ago (called a Flamingle). But we did enjoy it though the appetizers weren't really hardy enough to call a meal. I ate a piece of leftover pizza when I got home. Picture below of my outfit. I had LOTS of hairspray in - that was a pain to comb out.
Today I will do water aerobics, then I'm not sure what. I do need to do a bit of bathroom spiffing prior to the girls arrival so maybe that. DH is golfing at a golf course in a different location today - the clubs here have reciprocal privileges in the summer. Tonight dinner is either at the Beach Club with a neighbor or at a restaurant in town on the ocean that we like.
But first a Justice walk! Have a winsome Wednesday!

Barbie Doll in the house!!! You nailed it! Those shoes are epic. It seems like there are some perks to being home in the off season like special events at the club and golfing opportunities. Your DD and friends will have a blast when they visit.
Paula, I think we'll all look forward to your meal kit reviews. One of my friends used it for awhile, and got some recipe ideas that are still in rotation even after she stopped using the service. Another friend uses it when they go camping in their RV. She says it's so easy, everything arrives on dry ice, she packs up the boxes in the RV, and doesn't worry about bringing tons of ingredients. They're all in the boxes.
Some gorgeous weather today. This evening we're meeting some friends to go to a food truck festival at their church. Food trucks and music on a nice summer evening. Should be fun. Tomorrow BFF, DH, a high school friend, and I are going out for dinner. Sadly, I think the smoke and humidity returns.
Today's task is to maybe buy some Hokas. I'm at least going to try some on and see what I think. I need something for extended walking in Scotland, and almost everyone I talk to loves these shoes. I do remember Liz that they didn't suit you, so I'll pay attention to what I think about the super thick sole. The other thing that gives me pause is some reviews said they weren't real good on wet surfaces. Scotland = rain.
I'm not sleeping well again. It's disappointing, because usually regular exercise helps a lot. The part of my brain that perseverates on worries got revved up by my nephew's situation I think. Needs to calm down or have a reset. In truth, there is a lot to worry about though nothing I can really do besides what I'm doing.
I tried a new recipe last night, the 1905 salad from the Columbia Restaurant in Tampa. They also have one in Celebration, near Disney, which is where we had the salad. The ingredients are actually pretty basic: iceberg lettuce, ham, Swiss cheese, tomato and green olives. The dressing is what makes it special. I followed the recipe exactly, and the house smells like garlic this morning! 4 cloves in the dressing. I may use a little less the next time I make it.
Time to get going here after my slow roll into the day!
Your event tonight sounds like fun! Overactive brains are truly sleep depriving. And I'm a lover of lots of garlic so I wouldn't have any problem with that recipe.
I got the shoes on Amazon for $20 from Juicy Couture. They were actually quite comfortable which I didn't expect. I think I spent $24 in total for the outfit as I used a dress and belt that I had. The other $4 was for the earrings and I had some small pink bows clipped in my hair.

I avoided Hokas because of the thick soles. I finally decided to give them a try this summer when I desperately needed new athletic shoes. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Hokas! So much so that I now have three pair and rotate them. Super, super supportive and I have no problems with the wide foot base. I find that if anything, that wide base improves my balance. I hope you find a pair that works for you!
Greetings to Barbie and all!
Overcast today. There was record heat inland and a record high here in Eureka of 71 degrees. This is why I am a FORMER midwesterner. Love the coolness here.
So Liz you indeed rocked Barbie. Perfect with the pearls. Wish we could see all the other Barbies.
DD hope the sleep issue passes. I think our brains indeed get revved up and even when the issues pass, the brain takes its time. Hoping that your fun dinner tonight is a reset. Wednesday is no longer hump day. just the day the grocery sales items change.
Errands to run today. I need to take new stuff to the gallery which I meant to do yesterday but did not. I had some gluing to do. Also need to find a hanging mechanism for these new items that go on the wall. The picture hanging stuff at the hardware store is supprisingly bleak. I am going to check a small art supply store nearby. It is not a big craft store - a little local place.
Scrabble friend gifted me a huge zucchini. I think this one will be cut up and roasted. DH does not care much for them. I like to make those zoodle noodles but this zucchini is likely too big. She also gave us some plums from her yard tree which are great. She likes to keep them harvested as bears will come at night to get them.
Remodeling continues at the Winchester mystery house across the street. Must be something big like an outdoor kitchen.
Attaching pic of the new great niece. I think she is fabulous.
She sure is fabulous! What a doll!!!!
